Yeah I could kick myself in the butt for not buying up some domain names back in 96 or 97. There was even talk back then about maybe it would be good investments, but most people, myself included never gave it much thought. Of course it was more expensive to buy a domain back then and network solutions was the only place you could buy from. I even had a couple of reasonably good names when I set up my first personal domain. But then decided it was just too expensive and let them expire. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was like a couple hundred bucks to get a domain name back then.
Yea I'm kicking myself in the ass as I own a few 3, 4, and 5 letter domains back in 97-99 as well as a few one word domains that are probably worth in 100K's right now. Oh well, you live and learn I guess.
If you could travel back in time, this would be the hands down easiest way to make sure you get rich.
Imagine what some of those guys who bought those domains in the beginning are thinking now. I bet most of them didn't even see it as an investment with increasing returns, they were just the first ones to get the domain due to random factors.
It's the shortest, most staggering jump from poor to rich I have ever heard of. Kind of makes you sick.
sex, money, and alcohol make the world go round
http://themostexpensivedomain.com/ this actually exist! lol
To think all you would have had to have done is spent like 20$ in 1996, typed in a name and bam your a millionaire now.
There was a guy on this forum, or WF forum that had
im sure that its worth 6 figures, but the noob runing the website has 100 rss feed subs and has no idea what he is doing. He is a dumbass, sell the domain, and use the money to invest to become wealthy. Stop chasing this dream to having it become this huge website when you know its going to fail, lol.
that list is a little skewed though. The reason that insure.com was purchased for so much was because the site is making lots of money...it wasn't just bought for the domain name.
Never work hard, work smart and you`ll be successful and rich
Originally bought in 2001 for a tenth of the price (£1 million), the £10.6 million price tag some eight years later set records as the most expensive domain name of all time.
THATS a ROI !!!
Separate names with a comma.
