I still can't believe what I have read on the news in the last 48 hours in Serbia.
@MrDenz @Scorpion Ghost I hope you are both OK.

The world is becoming a very very scary place to live in. A kid at a very young age killing in school, 21 years old killing dozens of people out of a car and all that within 48 hours.

Social media, computer action games, hollywood and what not... We are losing the human moral and I am afraid the next generations will be even worse if we don't do something about it.

Truly tragic what happened in Serbia, but I would not put a nihilistic view on the whole future. If we look into the past, there have always been all kinds of crap (even bigger and uglier than the present), and there will (unfortunately) be in the future. Everything seems uglier nowadays because of the ease with which information is spread around the world. As for the future, it is up to each of us to leave at least a little good behind us, hoping that this "seed of good" will take root.

You are exactly where your government wants you to be. Scared and in your little corner.

The world in fact has never been more peaceful overall.

The only difference today is that world news coverage brings in front of you every little tragedy around the world for you to consume.

Anyone who can critically analyze the facts away from the news can clearly see this.

"Hope" is a very abstract word. The root cause is not to be set by 1 thing but rather by everything that has been happening for the past 5-10 years (mostly in the last 2-3 years. The virus, the wars, the inflation) increasing the depression rate by a lot.

I get your point but we are always "government this, government that...". We choose the government. The government represents us - the ones that voted for them. So, its not them. Its us. We need to change and we need to give the proper education to our next generation.

And how else would you know what is happening around the world without 'seeing' and 'reading' the news? How can you 'see' clearly if the only medium (news/social media) is not a 'good enough' source?

C'mon buddy, if you really think there is any truly truly democratic government in the way the concept of democracy originated from Greece 2500 years ago you got other issues first to deal with. Tribes of pre-civilized apes that is 99% of human history never learned or care what is happening in another continent, not even two settlements away. I highly recommend you to read Jack Donovan's books to get some perspective.

40 years ago, everybody was killing each other in Serbia - I wouldn't say it's worst now than then

Not sure if as we grew older, we became more aware of the world compared to more naive kids not watching the news every day. some bad things happened 20 - 30 - 40 years ago

I read somewhere that a person killed a cat in horrible way by putting the cat in blender

Agreed! So, it was really ugly before the 1900s, became slightly better, and it is becoming ugly again. I really don’t know what gives.

you know the Universe 25 experiment?
this is whats happen currently in our society...

thats horrible . i understand the feeling the issue is mental health treatment crimminal rehabalition , and gun control, and as the population grows we will only see more crazy peolpe do stuff like this . we need to advance as a society and move from neglecting the low , its a sad place for sure , i wish we could be better , sending hopee for better days my friend from a Hungarian a tradegy like this shouldnt happen

the world as a whole was worse in the past guys for everyone but rich people of a certain race mainly in the richest countries . but that shouldnt be the point , what has the world cme to is more so a expression. it can be used literally but the point of this is the mass shooting that just tok place not old times of war

I agree with you and it does seem to look like it will increasingly get worse over time. The more important question is how we (as in the people that do understand that something is going in the wrong direction) are supposed to stop this downward other than with proper education? As i do think there is not enough education that will stop this within the next 10 - 20 years.

For 99% of today's Gen-Z there is no difference between reel life and real life. It is not due to technology such as social media, but it is due to inappropriate upbringing, which is due to their parents busier than ever to earn money, which is due to ever increased cost of living, which is to due increased capitalism (where private "actors" own and control businesses in accord with their interests, and they control the demand and supply and hence control and manipulate prices of commodities, etc, in the markets).
