I copied this from a cool blog at http://www.lionquestfitness.com
    It's called ....

The ultimate case for Physiological Exercise

Very interesting stuff. So is the 10 min. Fighting Science clip on Qi Gong below. That video did so much to
open western minds to the health and self defense benefits of Qi Gong: one of Asia's greatest treasures.

Some time ago I was flipping around the TV channels and came across a program where scientists were trying to figure out the basis of CHI. They hadn't come to any definite conclusions, but one of the ideas that they were exploring was that CHI was really a form of intense concentration.

As I started to think about it all of the fabulous superhuman powers that I had been reading about for years were really acts of concentration whether they were the grandmother lifting the car off of her grandson or a gun fighter in the American West; they were all acts of focus and concentration.

Outside of having the ability to just consciously drive all of the fears and inhibitions out of your mind the most effective way to train yourself for great control over your body, mind, and spirit is through various methods of meditation.

Yoga is one of the most effective methods for training such abilities.

The Menninger Clinic ran extensive tests on yogis and concluded that successful application of yoga consisted of the yogi, "Getting into a relaxed state of mind and visualizing the desired bodily results."

In his book"Peak Performance" Charles Garfield, Ph.D says of the research at the Menninger Foundation, "They found that not only were yogis able to voluntarily alter their brain waves, heart rates, body temperatures, and other metabolic processes ordinarily considered to be regulated by the autonomic nervous system, but that the ability to voluntarily control these processes could be taught to others with little difficulty in relatively short time."

Physiological exercise is a simplified and demystified form of yoga that includes Isometrics, DVR/VRT, DSR, and Isometric Power Flexing

The principal subject studied in the research at the Menninger Foundation was Swami Rama. In his book, "Exercise Without Movement" he features one type of Physiological Exercise- Isometric Power Flexing and has this to say about those exercises:

"The exercises in this book, however, are yoga practices with benefits far exceeding ordinary muscular movement. In these subtle exercises one vitalizes muscles, respiration, senses, nervous system, and mind...most importantly in these exercises one comes to experience the tremendous potential of the mind itself, and one makes a dramatic step inward through the layers of personality toward the center of the mind and consciousness."

Thanks OP having lived in Asia for over 15 years what you learn about the mind and the body is beyond belief!

Get up at the crack of dawn anywhere in Asia and go to the local park which will be full of people in Qi Qong sessions...

Over the years I watched learned and participated with the orientals where it is common to find millions of people in their 80s and 90s as fit as western people in the 20s...

The west is light years behind the Chinese et al in understanding about life and longevity

Believe me the day does not start and end in McDonalds...

I am captivated and addicted to what I learned about ones inner self and body from the Orientals...

Well said Brother. They have an interesting nickname for Westerners. It translates as "The Long Walk" because they say we'd have to walk a very long time to get to their level of understanding in so many things. I've studied Kung Fu and Qi Gong for 13 years now and I feel like I'm in kindergarten. Not even first grade! lol

Yep and of course the oriental attitude to sex is the more we do it - the better it gets...

Where as in the west you get sex if you wash the dishes - buy flowers - walk the dog - go out to dinner - it is always a f**king transaction a forced negotiation - then when you start - they say have you come yet!

Man sex in Asia starts at a dirty level and gets deeper - dirtier - more interesting and more and more raunchy and sexy as you go along...

And that is with normal men and women you meet in the streets!

Ask her mother if she wants a free holiday in Spain next year after March when the sun shines all day long on the shores of the Mediterranean great lifestyle and a small but lively Chinese community to befriend as a bonus... she would be as free as a bird... orientals love to do as they want when they want!

Was watching the video... Its unbelievable!
Only thing that can make this possible is the tremendous amount of control over your mind using which you can control your body.

We are always so distracted, its really hard to concentrate so much... achieving even 1% of that should be a dream. I have read somewhere that we use only upto 10%~ of what our brain can actually do.. Wish I was born in china lol

I get as excited as you when I saw that video. It never gets old. Beyond belief!

    Clarke's Three Laws are three
"laws" of prediction formulated by the British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke. They are:

    1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
    2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
    3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
