The Supreme Court Today................

Thank GOD the Supreme Court finally got something right!!!!

Hitler identified and disarmed the Jews that he planned on killing. It worked. Do you honestly think that once word got out about the "showers" that anyone who was not in a camp, would not have instantly formed their own militias and shot anyone who tried to "arrest" them?

That is how it works. History teaches that very painful lesson.

So, while I would love to think of the perfect Utopian world in which the police and the military could always defend us, that is just pure folly.

Consider this: " This article addresses German firearms laws and Nazi policies and practices
to disarm German citizens, particularly political opponents and Jews. It begins with
an account of post-World War I chaos, which led to the enactment in 1928 by the
liberal Weimar republic of Germany's first comprehensive gun control law. Next, the
Nazi seizure of power in 1933 was consolidated by massive searches and seizures of
firearms from political opponents, who were invariably described as "communists."
After five years of repression and eradication of dissidents, Hitler signed a new gun
control law in 1938, which benefitted Nazi party members and entities, but denied
firearm ownership to enemies of the state. Later that year, in Kristallnacht (the Night
of the Broken Glass), in one fell swoop, the Nazi regime disarmed Germany's Jews.
Without any ability to defend themselves, the Jewish population could easily be sent
to concentration camps for the Final Solution. After World War II began, Nazi
authorities continued to register and mistrust civilian firearm owners, and German
resistence to the Nazi regime was unsuccessful.7"

This was taken from "NAZI FIREARMS LAW AND THE DISARMING OF THE GERMAN JEWS
17 Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law, No. 3, 483-535 (2000)"

Pretty sobering stuff, isn't it?

Second Amendment...........it IS our right to keep and bear arms.

Forget how the world looks at us........whether it be as gun-toting rednecks or whatever..........when the shit hits the fan, who have France and many other European countries called on to save them, multiple times? Why that would the same crazy gun-toting redneck Americans, would it not?

We need to be true to ourselves. I know that if Johnny Jihad makes it up the river inlet to one of our fine Floridian cities here, he will be met on shore with a certain and finite greeting that only Smith and Wesson and Colt can provide.

The military can not be in every part of the country at the same time and the police force would be overwhelmed by a good sized force of terrorists with heavy weapons......(kind of sobering for those who live in countries that ban firearms for their citizens, how could you defend yourself if your government became incapacitated)?

The whole issue of the Posse Comitatus Act in relation to New Orleans was the use of US Special Forces to protect citizens from those who were shooting and killing innocent people.......now, if in fact, "good" people were being disarmed, then that is not cool at all.

I live in a city in Florida where the National Guard had road blocks that would not allow anyone to enter or leave the city.........at no time did anyone go house to house and ask for our weapons. That would be suicide for the soldier or marine who attempted to do so.........this all happened due to a hurricane and it was not fun. Bush even visited our sister city to hand out ice (it was all surreal, at that time).

One neighbor had an AR-15 and GOD knows how many of the rest of us were armed. Cell phones did not work, and the police could not get through in many areas due to severe damage and flooding caused by the hurricane........simply put, WE WERE ON OUR OWN.

So while some may not like Bush, let's keep the crystal clear about this whole issue. Bush did NOT take our guns and only the bad guys were taken care of here in Southern Florida. If abuses happened elsewhere, then those need to be addressed.

Anyway, I am glad the Supreme Court GOT IT RIGHT! And I am sad to say that I have been acutely aware of what has been going on in Australia for quite a while.......I can only say that the Aussies need to ban together and say "enough"........

Killermule:

Were you dropped on your head as a child are are you merely stupefyingly ignorant of history?

Or just plain stupid?

Uptown,

I FEEL your pain!!!! :)

I do not know how many times I have just perused a post and held my response back and then to find out that you have already addressed that very issue that my head could well explode on.........

If any times call for the common citizen to be armed, it is now.

The second amendment is not from some old or outdated document, and I feel the same as you (and many here on the board, I would guess) on things like that.........

Funny, Florida was supposed to turn into the Wild West after the new gun laws were signed into law. Guess what? I did NOT happen.

You did not have gun fights in the middle of US 1 or in the Mall parking lots......

What did happen is that the common individual who is not a criminal has had some of their power restored to them. And the car-jacker sociopathic asshole who thinks about shooting someone or attacking them, now knows that he may get a bullet for his trouble.

Gun nuts...

"Oh no!! They are going to take our guns and we'll have to learn to resolve our conflicts in a civilized way instead of just shooting one another!"

So very sad...

Lol I love your sig :D

I was in hospital 2 times after i was charged by groups of robbers. But that, of course, was because i can't resolve my conflicts in a civilized way :)))) damn we live in such a cowardly irresponsible society. You should think about why the Police in US can do such a great job. Because they care. Because ppl own guns. In the UE police afford to be lazy asses. And you'll end up humiliated both by the robbers and the police :) I can give you tens of examples where americans have more dignity than europeans. Just take a look on http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/256865.

Were supposed to be a highly developed, modern culture.
We have had knives, swords, sticks, stones, rocks, bow and arrows, and a billion other ways to kill one another for as long as human beings have been around. Society always managed then, the only real problem now has alot more to do with the education system than with the accessibility of guns.

See the thing with guns, is they give stupid people an advantage over smart people.
Now your free to make your own choices, But I for one like to know that no matter what the fuck happens in this chaotic world-I'll always have my trusty Sr-71 and .22 handgun. I can protect myself, my family, and ensure theres always one way or another to find something to eat.

A man who does not keep himself armed, has truly become a cog of our society. His independence has been completely handed over to a governing body. If I remember correctly, one of the big tenants of being an American is independence. I'm certainly a piece of the machinery that is American society-We all are. But I choose to do so, In the long run-I take care of myself. Not uncle sam,not my boss-Me.

I disagree with this completely. Owning a weapon is not a must have for everyone, while the right is a must have. I do not believe that I am a cog for not owning a weapon, and I certainly have not surrendered myself over to the state in any way, shape, or form over this. I know people that own weapons that, if the state asked, would hand them over, being cogs, as you say.

cashcorp, the rub is that what you said, if you look at it carefully, reeks of the same stench that the antis have from the other point of view. Fundies from any side are a serious issue to be dealt with.

The problem really isn't guns ... I know people don't like to hear that but it's true.

I'm afraid that even without guns people would still kill your ass if that is their intent. There are country's that have outlawed guns only to find murder with baseball bats and knives on the rise. They burn the bats and there is no evidence (unlike a gun). So really it's not at all about guns vs whatever. It's about humanity and were we are at socially.

Before we had guns, there were wars and murderers. It's nothing new - it's the people that have the issues and not the weapons.

Weapon bans are really just a band aid on a hydro dam that is about to explode. It's very silly to think that peoples motives will change because you take away one type of weapon.
