Hey my fellow Blackhatters! I trust everyone is well with it being Black Friday and all... So a few months back a friend came to me asking if I could help him set up a new business that he wants to start. So being the helpful bloke that I am I had a look at his proposal and his business plan...The reason he came to me is because he is a really close friend and knows that I am making bucks online, not the ''I-make-a-$1000-a-day'' kind of money, more like the ''enough-to-cover-my-holiday'' kind of money. Anyway, so he asked me if I would like to be his partner in the business. I have some experience in setting up small businesses that are quite profitable so I figured sure I could do this because I liked his proposal and business plan and I had a few bucks that I could invest. So my responsibility of the business would purely be the offline and online marketing side. Ok before we go any further I just want to tell you guys why I didn't hesitate to start this business with my friend... I did some keyword research and found that there were quite a lot of folks searching for the service that our new business is offering. According to Google's keyword tool on exact match the main keyword was getting 2000 searches per month. And the competition? Well to put it bluntly, the competition never ever heard of the term Online Marketing and SEO before! I got started on our website and did some really basic SEO on it for our main keyword and a few others. 2 months after we launched the site we were ranking #1 for our main keyword. AND yes! it is for a local business search term. So it is almost the end of November now...and this is what our stats looks like... 93% of the business that we got was from organic search!!! We are averaging about 400 clients per month. Our average price for our service is $80. I own 45% of the business. I am sure you can do some basic maths! So all I am doing now is just ensuring that we are maintaining that top spot and expanding a little bit on other online marketing avenues. My friend is responsible for the operational side of things...let's just say that I have a lot of free time on my hands now. Ok so now let's get to the ''Building an empire'' part...seeing that I have so much free time on my hands and a few spare bucks to invest i figured that I can do this with other local businesses as well. Like we always see on this forum...''rinse and repeat'' and ''scale'' So next up is a venture with my brother! and maybe a little investment in property.... I am not sharing this with yall cause I want to brag or anything, but rather to serve as motivation for those in need of that. So to end off I just want to wish those that are starting out with IM luck on their future ventures and to those that are making bucks already, keep at it son!
