I'm currently creating my own eBook product and concidering additional ways of marketing it, other than AdWords and Clickbank, without being too annoying (spam) and actually giving some value to people out there.

So I was thinking of creating a light version of the eBook, which would contain roughly 30-40% of the full product, a sort of demo, aswell as a torrent discount coupon, and sharing it on torrent websites. Mainly The Pirate Bay, Mininova, IsoHunt and Seedpeer.
But it's kind of useless if not many people notice the torrent, so I figure I could at least get it to the Top 100 eBooks on The Pirate Bay, use the Content Distribution feature on Mininova and send junk traffic to search queries on Seedpeer. This way, lots of torrent meta-search sites will also pick up the torrent file, index it and hopefully I'll see some conversion.

The thing I'd need help with is the TPB Top 100. From what I've gathered TPB rates Top 100 torrents by cross-referencing seeders, peers and total downloads of the .torrent file or the torrent itself. I figure this could be manipulated somehow by a ring of seeders to jump start the journey towards Top 100. Seeding doesn't even need to be high speed, you could seed this eBook at 2kB/s, doesn't matter. And the best thing is that it's completely legal.

I don't really know when my eBook product will be finished, hopefully in the first week of January. But I thought I'd post here to see if other people would be interested in this little marketing experiment.

Basicly it would work like this. You post your torrent here, as long as it doesn't have any viruses, and subscribe to the thread. People in the Seed Ring download it and seed it at the speed they choose (I'd suggest minimum 2kB/s though). When someone else posts a torrent, you return the favor. Simple.

That's the idea. Let me know what you guys think!

The self-run tracker might actually be a decent idea if TPB stats include peers from other trackers than their own. Thanks for the idea.

Why risk running your own, when you can inject public trackers over UDP? just use Seedking
