great movie. it doesn't even have to work, thinking positively will make you happier even if it doesn't change your life!

No offence but it's kind of a lame movie.
Basically you're just putting faith in something, and always keeping positive beliefs to achieve it. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but common' all self-help books teaches the exact thing. The only difference is that "The Secret", whether is it the book or the movie, has successfully marketed their product to the public well, therefore receiving such hype.

This has been practiced in religion too (won't go in much detail since religion talk isn't allowed), putting faith in something and always believing.
Like how Friedrich Nietzsche once said, "Faith: not wanting to know what is true".

And one thing I hate about such 'self-help' movies or books is, they tend to create overconfident individuals than intended.
For instance, I have a few acquaintance whom watched this movie and kept posting those positive crap in their facebook status. They kept telling others, "I WILL SUCCEED!" but they're doing shit. They believe by just keeping positive beliefs they will succeed. What they miss out is taking action. And such people generally pisses other off - overconfidence is irritating.
The same goes with the book, "Rich Dad Poor Dad". It's a good book that teaches you some financial knowledge.
But again, some acquaintances I know have read it and became really arrogant, yet overconfident. It's pathetic and irritating.

I read the book when I was going thru hard times, it really helped me a lot to cope with stress. When you think positive about your goals you will be happy to work towards your goals, but when you feel like your stuck and you're never going to make it, you don't even wanna do any work and just feel depressed.

The secret to the the secret is that if you want something bad enough you will do anything to get it. It's just common sense imo

The book just made you realize things that you would do subconciously when you are aiming for a goal in life.

Hey thanks for the lengthy response.

There is alot of controversy about the Secret, no doubt. But the people that really believe in it, seem to swear by it. And yes, many people knew about the whole idea long before this movie/book were ever around.

Regardless, it changes some peoples lives, and probably for the better.

So many quotes from wise people that talk about this very thing.

And yeah, I didn't know who alex grey was until recently, just found the pic randomly long time ago, then few months ago discovered who actually did the piece ;)

All people should experiment at least one time in their life a psychedelic moment. It's good for you mind / ego. Watching that paint could be a psychedelic experience. Alex Grey knows that.

    here's my take on it:

if you're already taking action, then positive thinking will make it much more effective.
if you're not taking action, then positive thinking won't do shit.

people tend to think it's black and white, that either:
    1) positive thinking does nothing at all, or
    2) that you can make things happen solely by thinking about them

i say it's neither of those.
positive thinking helps, but taking action is crucial to making it work.

of course, from a marketing perspective, nobody likes being told they actually have to DO something to get what they want. :p

Thats about the most rational concept you can get from this.

A bunch of warm fuzzy mumbo jumbo isn't going to make anything happen.

If you're working hard to achieve something then positive thinking can help keep you motivated. But it's the working hard part (and having a workable plan) that makes something happen, not the feel good thinking.

The secret is actually VERY! real also it was cosign by Albert Einstein, but people get confused when someone brings it up. The secret is not about sitting around thinking positive thoughts and waiting for something positive to happen.

It's about working towards your goal and letting life or and the universe shape your thoughts into reality. The proper Law the OP is speaking of is called "The Law of Attraction"

    at 17:44 Jayz

    http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhPrtIFGBi5t0JtgGv

    Tells Charlie Rose
"Believing in certain things, and believing in the Universe and believing in the just Universe"

People who understand the '"The Secret" as I do, understand what he's talking about, Believing that his life as a hustler will end and his life as a rapper will be successful, if u create enough
energy in thought the universe will shape those thoughts in reality and it might take days, months or even years but it will come to pass.

This is a perfect example of the secret

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MmgECgZvpw

Listen to what will says he speaks on the "Universe" again but like I said it takes a deep thought person to understand "The Secret" Will smith even said "it's hard to put in words" cause it really is, but I will say "The secret" only works for people who believe it will work, if u have doubt it will not work.
