I had an EMD site that was bringing in $200/month via adsense with about 3,000 UVs but then the EMD update hit and as you can see, it had it's way with my site. I went from about 100-125 views daily down to 5-10. Needless to say this site really makes nothing on adsense anymore.

Starting Nov. 1st, I went on the road to recovery and am going to try to bring this bad boy back. Here's what I have done so far.

I removed all Adsense from the site. (I actually found someone to rent the advertising space for $200/month...lucky me)
I have added 7 500 word articles to be dripped out this month. 2 have been published so far.
I have used social signals/bookmarks when the articles are published to index the articles.
I have started doing more offsite SEO through Guest Blogging and Web 2.0s

These are the results I have seen thus far.

Still have a ways to go but the road to recovery is long and if I can get back to the #1 spot, I am looking at a big payday from the current rentor.

Anyone else have any personal stories and what they have been doing?

my emd has been down after the update so I 301-ed it to my main website, and it rapidly started de-indexing(could see through webmaster tools), so about a week ago I removed the 301 and it's magically at #1.. strange things happen with google.. very strange things

The EMD update simply removed the "benefit" that EMD domains had. Which essentially leveled the playing field.

You just need to build a lot more powerful backlinks to your website, with diversification and other stuff like that....

    Quality backlinks still work.

I really dont think it removed "all" of the benefit maybe 50%?

You are right, not all of the benefit but a very good part of it. Unfortunately I wouldn't know how to quantify it.

I'm well aware of what the update did. Notice I didn't speak of an EMD penalty.

Good luck Josh! if you need any help don't hesitate to ask (not that I actually think you need it). None of the updates have actually affected me but I can imagine how sucky it must be to lose some sort of income like that just out of nowhere.

watching with interest as i have a few EMD's that i was just relying on the power of the EMD to rank. Building backlinks slowly but i wish there was a decent SEO offer out there that would build a nice first tier for me as i'm so fcking lazy! :)
