I'm going to build an Amazon Affiliate Site and promote a "specific product"

What is the best domain name for the product ? I'm a little bit confused about theese possible domain names..Obviously the primary domain name is taken already!

    1. - www. productname-otherproductname.com or with the "." instead of "-"
    2. - www. the best - product name.com same here
    3. - www. review of the product name.com

    Any advices are really apprecciated!

    Thanks!

Do you think is better -www.thebestproductname or www.thebest-productname ?

This "-" may help in SEO ranking ?

    Thanks for your vote!

Always better without "-" if you have a choice

    Home Page:
    "buy product name com"

if your are targeting a keyword phrase with seo, it means by targeting product name you target people already knowing this product and searching for it right? why else use this product name in you domain name...

if you use "buy product name com" you are targeting the same group of people + the ones actually typing buy product name on google and therefor targeting more actual buyers

No, don't go for an EMD.

You basically don't want to do this :

Have a domain "XYZ.com" and then optimize your homepage for "XYZ".

Create a brandable domain. You can include say, one of the main keywords. So for example, let's say your niche is gps sports watches. So you're going after "best gps sports watch" and "gps sports watch reviews". You do NOT want "gpssportswatchreview.com" or "sportswatchreview.com" or "bestgpswatch.com". I would go for "gpsWatchShop.com" or "TheSportsWatchShop.com" or "TopSportsWatches.com" or "SportsWatchCenter.com" or "FindASportsWatch.com" - You get the idea. Think of it like a mini-business. Create the domain for the user, not for google. You want the person to know what your website is about in the serps when they see the url. Something that will also carry more trust.

There's actually no such thing as an "exact match domain". ANYTHING is an exact match domain. You have to just make sure that you're not optimizing your page for the same keywords as your domain, but you are OK to include 1 or 2 of your main keywords in your domain, ie, sports and watch, or gps and watch in my example.

Sure but i want to target people that actually wants like a "review" of the products and then they wants to know where to buy with some sale...

    Thanks !

My idea was to create a site on a product.. ie smartwatch and them make reviews about the various kind of smartwatch and then tell them where to catch it on sale...what do you think is the best domain for this ?

Anyway i've got the idea...BRANDABLE DOMAIN!

    Thanks!

I don't recommend a site for a single product. Not in 2015. A couple of years back, yes, no problem. 5 page sites with an EMD were rampant, but now aim for a 50-75 page brandable review site in a niche. Bare minimum of 25 pages, but I recommend 50+. More pages/products makes it easier to have stronger architecture/on-page. Easier to build relevancy through lots of internal linking with keyword anchors.

Making a huge authority site is risky and 5-10 page site can still be ranked if you silo structure it.

Siloing is for big sites, not small :)

A small site is a silo, you don't have to do anything.

Each silo should have a minimum of 5 pages in it. A 5 page site can't be silo'd and a 10 page site is just 2 categories

But why do you want to do this? Its harder in 2015 to rank a dozen different spammy 5-10 page sites than it is to build a larger site and focus your efforts and linkbuilding resources on growing that one site. Once you have that site ranking for one product, its easy to get it ranking for another.

SEO isn't that hard, it does get hard when you use a strategy straight from 2011.
