Years ago, when I first opened my Pinterest account, I was looking for the best strategies to grow my account and I found an article about Andrew Miller who gained 25,000 followers in three days. His recipe for success was simple, pin often.

Now that my account is finally starting to grow, I went back to the article to see how Miller's account is doing. He has hit 1.1 million followers. I was curious about his activity and was surprised at what I learned.

Despite having 1.1 million followers, his last pin was posted went up 12 days ago and only has 1 repin.
How can that be? I have a small fraction of his followers and everything I post gets at least that amount after 12 days. Beyond that last pin, over the past month, his pins really don't have much traction with most bellow 10 repins with a few exceptions like a video that has 182 repins.

I guess its goes to show, its not how big your account is, its how you use it.

Here is an article he wrote for Linkedin

Really, when you hit 1.5m-2mill followers that's 2-3k a day. the trick is finding new 1.5.-2mill because they lose worth quick that's probably what happened, he was spamming them over and over and they their value deteriated hence the low repins. i think a good method would be to gather logins because than you can get a lot of different new followers quickly. you gotta figure those big sites get 100ks of signups daily but a good portion of those users dont keep using the site, it's the new signups from that day or the next days which are actively using the website

Checked a few of his boards, including Food & Drink (my niche), and they only have @14K followers. His followers might be too diverse in order to get consistent engagements.

You believe Pinterest delivers to each of our followers? I think reach is worse than Facebook since they roll with all kind of followed topics and pin suggestions on frontpages nowadays.
