Yes, you read it right penguin has gone bat shit. The update was inconsequential for me since
none of my sites were affected, until now. Two of my niche blogs has been shat over by the penguin, last week.
This update was supposed to be good for sites with well written original content with no overtly aggressive back link profile.

Even cutts and half the "seo" blogosphere was going all ga-ga about how penguin will bring the pot of gold
to sites that are good. I feel this is far from the truth. For example, I have two niche blogs that have

    1. Original, informative and well written articles
    2. Original tutorial videos
    3. No bookmarks, web 2.0 or blog network links
    4. The themes are original and custom designed.

The blog are on EMD domains. The blogs are completely indexed. The only back links they have are
from 3 guest posts I did on 3 other popular blogs in the same industry. The guest posts are original,
informative and have only one URL link to my sites.

Site A was jumping between position 10 and 16
Site B is new and was dancing between 11 and 18

All of a sudden, site A disappeared from top 300 results, last week and today Site B fell down to 80
and is fluctuating between 60 and 80. I have a hunch that Site B will also disappear tomorrow from the
    SERP's.

In case you are wondering, the blogs are not in a competitive niche and some sites are ranking with crappy
    links.

My friend since the penguin and panda updates I no longer rely on google as a source of traffic, I see it more as a bouns.
Anyway I have been building a list for my SEO blog so I always have traffic

the new site is going to be bouncing around for a few months regardless of penguin and panda updates, that is just the nature of the game. It normally takes google 3 months to consider a site "trustworthy." The older site might not have anything to do with you but what other people are doing for seo in the same niche. As one goes up, another has to come down, that is just the way the game is played.

you need to add some backlinks that might not be seen as high quality as the ones that you have now. remember google is looking for natural, and in the real world not every link is going to be a homerun.

That's some bad news OP. Don't stop writing original unique articles and doing guest posts on your niche related sites. Your site should soon bounce back to top position but you've to get some social signals now to maintain the flow. As like you did for your backlinks, try to make it look natural or the least try to get natural likes, fb shares,etc..,

FYI, 8 out of 10 sites I Analyzed today had nothing but spammy xrumer backlinks but still they're ranking on Top 3. This doesn't mean you've to do xrumer blasts. I just wanted to let you know that current update is ranking spammy sites again on top and yeah it'll switch back anytime.

ashermaverick , I understand that other sites might be aggressively promoting their sites which could have pushed my rankings down. But believe me this is not the case here. I am building and promoting sites since 2002 and this so far has been the shittiest , ass-backward update that ever was. My other sites with top notch content are not affected.

cpdudeson, This does not make any sense. Why on earth will I bother to get links that can not get me visitors and run the risk of penalizing my websites. I had private blog networks and link wheels made way back in 2007, I used those to rank RX websites and it paid of handsomely. My other sites have been linked from lifehacker, mashable, makeuseof etc. none of them tanked and those links bring in thousands of visitors.

Smartman, yes I will continue doing guest posts and will include some fb shares, likes, plus one shares too.
