The older the domain, the less likely to get sandboxed?

I have a 17 year old domain name with a PR of 2. Does that mean it is safer for me to do some back link blasting as opposed to a newer website? Does domain age increase "trust" by Google?

Depends if the website has bad records it might be bad for google ranking however it should rank better if it has a good record and is a very old domain.

There's no agreement that the Google Sandbox is a real thing.

I've personally seen a lot of dancing/shuffling for new sites vs. older, established domains.

There's two reasons this can happen:

    1. The algo is figuring out your place in the SERPs. It takes time to process
    the new info coming in.

    2. Google filed a "Rank-Modifying Spammer's Patent" about a year ago

It basically exists to mess with black hats. If a site seems to suddenly stop building links
when it drops in ranking (which is what most people do when that happens), Google
    slaps the site.

To my understanding it is either on G's shit list or not. I have also been finding that the age of a domain for a new site is not relevant and moreover the PR for me does nothing. I found this out when building a back link profiles with new and aged domains with 3+ PR and for some reason the new domains rank better.

Google sandbox doesn't care whether it is an old domain or a new domain. They will sandbox any sites that are not in line with their rules and regulations. As long as your site adheres strictly to the T&C of Google, your site will be fine.
