    Method

    1) Find a job to get some money in your pocket and experience
    2) Invest the money and the skills you got from the job into IM.

    Why Get a Job?

Because a job is paid training. You get paid to learn something you're interested in, and you can use this money and knowledge to invest in IM.

If you want to learn how a publishing company works because you want to start up your own publishing company, go get a job at the publishing company. You'll get money to start up your own publishing company, and you'll learn how a publishing company works. You'll know what makes a publishing company successful.

So if you want to be successful fast, go get a job.

    Some resources:

http://dropoutscansucceed.com/ - Teaches you a good way to position yourself if you don't have experience.

I presume the link is to your own site - it has to be because no-one in their right mind would link to such a ridiculously useless site.

Your advice on how to be independent is to get a job.

The site you link to is called 'Drop out and succeed' and it talks about how important a degree is.

I bet you don't have either a job OR a degree.

Getting a job in niche you're interested in or wanna start a business in is definitely right idea.

Few of the most successful businessmen I've read books from are talking still about this same plan "how to get experiences or skills".

The website is not mine and it was useful for me seeing that I'm in that same position. I put it there because I know some of us here might want to try out different things in other fields--fields where we have little to no educational background/work experience.

I don't see what the purpose was of you saying that I don't have a job or degree. Of course I don't have one, but I'm applying for positions that I'm interested in learning more about. It's like getting free disposable money you can use to speed up IM, so I'm going to make the best of it and give it a go.

Some guys here aren't making money. Some guys here are making money but want to learn something else. I'm just trying to get these people to think about options besides working on a overused method that still needs tweaking to make decent money, so it's not wasted thread space.

PS: Check the who.is on that domain. I wasn't even born then.

Yeah, i do agree with you. I'm looking for a job in sales, so i could fine tune my skills and apply it to my offline business when I'm ready to start one. It's a great skill to learn and mastering it means I won't starve :)

Well, if you continue like that, you're definitely not going to get a job.

I think you make some good points OP. I'm doing summer class right now for college, but I really need to get off my ass and get a job too to fund my IM endeavors. Not to mention getting some damn experience.

Let me know if you need some help with your resume. Personally, I've never done this before, but I'm doing tons of research on the subject, so I know I could help you out some way.

Ha! I went into IM precisely because I couldn't find a job after 4 years of looking for one.

Finding a job nowadays is difficult but finding a job that feeds your interests is more difficult. We shouldn't just give up though.
