The most common reasons you're failing online and what you need to change

I've been in this 'game' for longer than I want to talk about and I've seen SO much of what others are doing to 'make it online' but failing from the start.

The best way I can describe my vantage point is that I am standing over a pool watching tadpoles swimming about and in among those tadpoles are some frogs that grew stronger and are able to hop out of the pool.

The tadpoles are the ones that are swimming around for the sake of swimming around and generally following each other around the same pool of water.

So, why are some people just tadpoles that will remain just tadpoles while others have grown in to frogs that leapt the wall of the pool to find bigger adventures?

The most basic reason is due to a lack of original thought and just doing what everyone else is doing rather than thinking anything beyond that. When you choose to follow the crowd you will blend in, you will become lost, you will forever go with the flow and always be looking at what everyone else is doing so you can do the same.

I don't understand why SO many people make the exact same type of sites that use the same theme, the same topic/niche and even the same content sources.

STOP!! For the sake of all things, please, stop for a moment and ask yourself what it is you're doing that's going to get you better results than the next person. You use the same theme for your site, the same settings, they same ad networks and platforms, the same kind of content as well as the same images.

How is that going to get you ahead of the next person?

If you think your new site that uses that really popular 'free' theme/design that everyone else is using is going to make anyone swoon over your site then you're gonna be disappointed very quickly.

If you think that your site is gonna become a viral hit because you're using those really great 'you wouldn't believe what the cameraman saw next' type of titles for your posts then, again, you're gonna be disappointed very quickly.

There is an overall feeling I get from what I see and that is people are either too lazy to put any effort in to things but still expect outstanding results or there is a real lack of useful, accurate, information out there that's readily available that anyone can follow.

Maybe it's a mixture of both? As you read this it will be up to you to decide which category you fall in to but the good news is that both can be fixed.

So, those common reasons why people are failing online:

    1) Too lazy to learn anything different than what others are already, blindly, doing
    2) Too lazy to care
    3) Don't have the time to invest in learning what really works and what doesn't
    4) Following the wrong advice that is spewed out all over the place by people who don't have a clue
    5) Unable to find the right information
    6) Total confusion which leads to frustration

    How can this be fixed?

Well, here's the great news; you're already in one of the best places to learn what you need to learn. Yeah, I am biased as I learned a LOT of what I know from being a member here at BHW. I started out as a blind newbie but I had a thirst, an unquenchable thirst, to learn everything I could.

It is great to learn from others but it isn't always best to follow their exact moves. Even owning a blueprint for success doesn't mean you should follow it so closely that you become a clone of someone else.

Learning from someone means you watch what they have done and listen to what they did then you go and try exactly what they did so that you get the experience and learn from it. You then need to add you own spin to it.

If someone showed you how to make a suit and you then went a made your own suit you wouldn't keep making the same suit of the same colour, style and material as them and and everyone else, right?

You'd want to look at how you can make your suit look more stylish, how you could make it a better fit at the waist, under the arms, across the chest and change the colour too, right?

Well, creating a system online that is going to earn you money should be looked at in the same way. Learn to make the basic suit first and then discover how you can tweak things, improve on what you have created and take things in a different direction.

Yes, it takes thought and it takes effort so if you're lazy and you can't be bothered then you'll remain as that tadpole who follows the other tadpoles around for the same reason as all the other tadpoles are following each other around.

Instead of that, you need to be hungry to learn and develop an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and information. Be different, learn to make mistakes and learn from them. If you feel that you're just spinning your wheels then stop revving your engine and find out where first gear is.

You need to have a plan that doesn't involve following along with what everyone else has done.

Make BHW part of your daily routine. Ask questions, lots of questions and read entire threads for the valuable information this is within them.

    It is right there if you want it which means the question simply comes down to this;

    Do you want it?

It starts with your belief system. Ex. You make your first $500 and your whole belief system changes and you get the confidence to believe you'll make $1,000 the next month and this patter just snowballs. However, just believing won't set you free you have to have the knowledge behind what you're doing.

Exactly that. Learn the basics of something then work on that in your own way to take it in a different direction. Don't follow the crowd.

Even from making your first $ online then moving up to that '$10 per day' level then onwards because once you start you can't stop.

Brilliant post. Exactly right - even I have fallen into the same trap. Seeing the most commonly talked about basic stuff and thinking that's what everyone is doing. But no, the really successful people are taking the basics and pushing it to a whole new level.

Anything can be summarised but a summary doesn't give explanations or reasons. Some people prefer a summary and some prefer the details so I guess it's a case of each to their own.

Thanks and you're right about taking the basics and pushing things to a new level - Shez

This post is just perfect for me right now because finally one of my sites succeeded and I am going to have my first $$$ month and even before this month has ended I am already planning expansion and planning for more.

One of the things that I learnt was how much bullshit all the gurus throw out when in infact it was quite straight forward.

My new goal have a $5k December month and use that money to expand and reach 10k/month passive in 2017!.

I have also realized the power so sometimes I wonder how much people might be making, just baffling to me.

    thanks chez, great article

I think if someone want to be successful , he needs first stop following and decides to become leader...

I know a lot if my friends who daily follow gurus, mentors...and they follow them in everything they do ,

if those gurus or mentors stop feeding them they can do nothing, just waiting or searching for another ones

I think its like a state of mind...

    so be leader not follower

People tend to just sit around and wait for handouts.

I for one, believe it's easier for most to fail at "someone else's idea", because then they can turn around and pass the blame. To take the risk of your own idea failing can be devastating to someone's fragile little ego. Just my 2 cents.

We all know how egotistical the vast majority of people are.

OP is right though, innovation is always key.

Most people fail at making money online because they give up too easily. They try one thing and it doesn't work and then they never try anything else. In order to be successful at making money online you need to be constantly thinking. You need to be asking yourself, how can I make more money, what can I do to get more traffic, how can I make this situation work, etc. You can't just sit back, browse the internet, and hope to stumble upon a magic guide that teaches you A through Z how to make hundreds a day. Most free guides don't do that, even if they are long and extensive and require you to do hard work. You still need to twist the methods, overcome obstacles, and find ways to scale up to really start making solid money.
