Hi, so I am just starting to really get in to SEO and all that has to do with internet marketing, but the one thing that is bothering me, is can SEO and internet marketing for most people really turn in to a long term career? Or is it something that most will move on from down the line? Mainly I am not looking for the short term cash in, but the idea that a few of my web sites that I have real success with, could still be around 10+ years from now and over all making well over 6 figures. With things like Google updates and with just how fast and easily the internet can change, unless you are lucky enough to become one of the top visited sites on the internet, I find it hard to think any niche site could survive in the long term, compared to a real more physical business.

So what do you guys think? Any thoughts to help me see how with real hard work and time, anyone can make areal long term career on the internet :)

    Thanks for any help

    Hey OP,

I could see that you're doubtful about online industry and its future. Maybe it's because you're still new to this industry. There is no need to worry. There are plenty of methods to make money online. You just need to stick with a particular method and start your journey. Just persevere and work hard, you'll certainly succeed. Avoid keeping all your eggs in one basket because you might have to face major blows in the future. Although you should initially stick to one thing but as you master it, then you should start looking for other options to make money too.

Lastly, spend some time on this forum and I am sure that you will notice the pessimism within fade away gradually and it would make way to realistic ideas and strategies. Members of this forum are ready to help others so you'll have great time while you're here.
    Cheers :)

Then you're doing something very, very wrong - don't blame the whole industry for it.

But yes, Internet is not going away anytime soon, and there are so many ways you can make money online that you won't even be able to try them all out before banking. Sure you need to be able to cope with all the Google etc. changes, but so does your competition - same goes for any brick and mortar business as well, just not exactly in the same sense.

You don't need to find your niche. You need to create your business model.

Remember, you are essentially entering the industry of marketing and advertising. It's not a fucking joke.

SEO and all other stuff are just the details...
