The Light Bulb Theory? saw a documentary where companies prograam thing to fail

    this documentary showed how the light bulb used to be able to last 25,000 hours or something (might be off) but that the companies knew they would not be able to make money so they reduced the lifetime of the bulb to 1000 hours.

    and also that a printer is programmed to fail after X amount of prints, and you can download a software patch and you printer will start working again.


    Pretty crazy huh and as A money maker I understand it but as a consumer it feels like robbery in a sense.

    It was 2,500 hours, but the reason they went down to 1,000 hours is because it was more efficient at that amount. Printers do not just fail unless you have a defect one. I have a printer several years old and have printed thousands of pages on it, and its still working perfect.
