first off, let me preface this by saying this is not my technique, and i have not tried it. This fake newspaper site was found in a popup window yesterday and I thought, hmm, some blackhatter must be doing well with this one. So here it is.

    check:

    http://www.philadelphiagazette.com/business/personalfinance/?cid=mgp&t202id=4773&t202kw=mgp

notice the title looks like a legit newspaper, and even the sections in the url look like legit newspaper urls. Clicking any of the underlined things in the article brings you to a landing page. Whomever thought of this is probably doing pretty well with it since some people will be fooled into thinking it's real.

I don't know what site made this "gazette" window pop up, so i am not sure how the site creator is linking it to legit sites, but at any rate, interesting technique that could be expanded upon.

interesting. it appears they generated comments with cc or something. i also noticed the root domain has nothing and the menu is nothing but text. i guess thats good since it minimizes the user getting lost in the site.

They purposely wrote those comments into the page, I'm sure. The one thing that I'm curious about though, is the outgoing links. Nearly every single link on the page goes to their affiliate link (including their related links, etc). The only two that are different are the ones to the left and right of the title. I wonder if those are paid links from the actual websites, or if they are just thrown there to give a little bit of authenticity. I would guess the latter.

I've seen a page like that before for that "Get Paid For Posting Ads On Google" program that's circulating. I wonder if it's the same guy?

Obviously anybody should be able to save the page and then make modifications for their own affiliate product presell page. That may have to do in the absence of a template.

They call them 'farticles' and recently they've been slapped via Google. Plenty of them floating around in the PPC world.

farticles? lol i LOVE that name.

the other thing of note in this "farticle" is that it *always* seems to have today's date. I first found this yesterday, left the window open, then hit refresh today and voila, it was just written today! (funny that some of the commenters' posts happened before the article was written, lol)

Well like you said make it look as real as possible. Some include weather widgets and even Geo IP targeted to make it seem as if the paper is in the prospects own back yard. Sky is the limit with this one but monetized mainly in the ppc game.

To be honest, the article title could be true, depending on how much work and how long you'd been at it. It's not hard to make $5.00/day off a Twitter account, so take that number $72.00/hour, times it by 12, then divide by 5. Give or take 350 accounts and it's possible.

I've seen people that have thousands Twitter accounts that make thousands and thousands daily.

    In theory, it's possible.

As for the craze about fake newspaper sites, I haven't really seen them too much yet, other then this one.

How did he did that? How do you get a story to that list?
    if you simply google
    Code:
    www.philadelphiagazette.com
you will get lots of websites with his link in it ... at least some day they were ... but how? as if you check , there is now link now on that pages.
He gets lots of traffic and it's not even indexed :| PPC? or other methods?
    Alexa rank
    Code:

Yeh...Guy is possibly making bank with the traffic he's getting. From where we wouldn't know :)

It's like the Acai landing pages. Or the "I made 10k in 7 days" kinda sh*t. You can create a theme about this about anything thats "active" now.

The question is how you get that traffic and ranks in alexa, post in Hot List :-??
Fake traffic until it reaches some point to be listed in the TOP?
Does somebody know which methodology is this guy using to get monetizing traffic?

    Home Page:
This page is SO convincing.I came in from this thread, so knew what to expect - yet it looked so real. Then you click on the links and see them pass through as affiliate links, and the homepage is blank, etc., etc. - but the average Joe won't notice all this. Two thumbs up for this guy: one for doing such a convincing job, another for getting so much traffic in.
