I'm currently building some niche sites that don't really seem to need images (they do have properly written, KW optimised text content). A minimalist look would really suit the subject.
However I constantly read that it's a good SEO practice to have some images on every page.

So my question is: Does having no images on your site have a negative impact on your serp?

    Thanks!

I don't think so that will have a -ve impact ! But having images do make things looks natural and more user friendly.

It will not have a negative impact so much, it'll just lack the positive impact of having images on site.

Images for sites SEO are good, cause it's additional opportunity to optimize your website in Google and say about the quality of content on your website. If you haven't images on your website - you just lose this opportunity. That's not terrible, or required, but it helps.

Thank you for the replies everyone.
Most of my sites have a lot of visual content anyhow but it's good to know that it wont impact my SEO to have some text-only sites when appropriate. (this doesn't mean they don't look appealing, I've been a webdesigner for over 10 years.)

I think you are all forgetting the possible traffic that you will get with the Google "image" search function..

Ordinary images will not really contribute much to the onpage SEO value, it really should be an instagram-liike authoritative, useful diagram or layout. That will grant the image the kind of power that videos do in giving authority to the webpage.

This. From my experience, a decent amount of traffic comes from google images.

Don't think of it as a negative but as a missed opportnity to have a better SEO score on the page. Image have alt tags, and alt tags are considered in SEO, not having them will not penalize you as such, but your SE score may not be as good as someone who does have them.

In fact correctly optimized images have optimized file names, titles, and alt tags.
