The Golden Age of Internet Marketing is Over! (What's next..?)

There was never a "golden age" of internet marketing. If you knew... Then you knew. That's how it was back then, and that's how it is now. The only difference is that people learned to keep their mouths shut about what works for them.

You're incorrect, so why do you keep saying this in every thread? Those micro niche sites are my bread and butter, and the ROI is absolutely insane, and yes, it still works... (I avoid EMD mostly though).

I've created multiple sites making anything from $500 to $10,000+ in profit per site/month. Guess how much I invested in those sites including content writing and SEO? Around $500-$2,000 per site in total. I've never invested more than $2-3k into a site, ever.

It's very possible to get a site to $1-2k/month with about $500-$1000 investment. Not super easy, but doable.

My latest 2 sites are now at $150-$250 in profit per day (combined), with about a $1000 investment in total. Made almost exactly $10k back so far, and counting. One of them got to about $20/day within the first month or two (which was surprisingly fast).

It definitely takes longer nowadays compared to about 2 years ago, but still very much doable. You definitely DON'T need 4 figured a month to rank... please. If a tard like me can rank, then anyone can.

Again, this is completely meaningless.

Why do you want to convince people it's easy in the first place? Just enjoy the money.

But you're missing out so so much here.

How much time do you invest. How long have you been doing this. Are you writing the content. How many failed sites do you get(Because no one gets a 100% success rate on sites)

I don't doubt you, but it's like taking an expert in sales and giving him a product to sell and he goes away and makes $1k/day selling it then claims it's easy and anyone can do it.

It is VERY hard. Remember, I run a service here. I know just how many people fail. I can see people's sites. VERY few people succeed.

I too could build a site up with a $1k investment and have it making $1k/mo, but that's meaningless because I have years and years of experience. If you take 100 people new to SEO and ask them to do the same, less than 10% are going to reach $1k/mo with a $1k investment.

Anything's easy if you're an expert. It's easy for a master carpenter to build a chair. Does that mean it's easy to build a chair? No.

Just because one guy, out of the 10's of thousands who view this thread comes forward and has managed to create a site making $1 to $15 per day (And that's one hell of a spread he's reported, which tells me it's closer to $1/day), doesn't mean it's easy. It's just statistics.

I make 1-15$/day with those visitors. So yeah, they aren't bots. Yeah, I can create a site making 1000$/month without a 4 figure investment but I guess you and I are different.

Keywords I'm tarheting are "best XYZ" - it's buyer intent.

Great, good for you. But what's that got to do with anything I wrote in this thread?

If you think making $1/day from your site means you can go away and make a $1k/mo site then fantastic. Good luck to you.

It doesn't change the fact that IM is completely different than it was 10 years ago. It doesn't change my advice to people to create real sustainable businesses if they want a future.

If you believe you are on the right path then continue with what you're doing. Why are you even here reading these threads instead of making millions?

I highly doubt that.
But you are free to post proof as fast majority on bhw are keyboard marketers.

I'm definitely not trying to convince people it's easy. It's hard. It requires a ton of hard work, and a ton of reading to get everything right (your SILO thread is a favorite of mine). Most people give up waaaay too easy. I know that many people fail. Even I get requests from people who want me to check their sites, and they're terrible. Like, really bad. Especially their keyword/niche selection - That's the worst part, every time. Or they give up because they're not at $500/day within 3 weeks.

Why is it meaningless to invest $1k to make $1k/month because you have years of experience? I don't see the correlation. Doing SEO for others is the worst thing you can do in IM, in my opinion (speaking from experience). I'd rather make my own money, even if I make 10x less. I don't want to answer to no one, that's why I'm here - Freedom. I actually think less than 10% will make $1k a month with $1k investment, more like 1-3% to be honest. Most people give up too early.

Anything's easy if you're an expert. It's easy for a master carpenter to build a chair. Does that mean it's easy to build a chair? No.

I know you're not saying I'm an expert (because I'm not) - Sure it's not that easy to find a good niche for this, but it's doable. There's even possibilities to rank with like $200 (my first sites are proof of that), if you have the will power (and good at finding golden niches, which again is the hard part). I had a (short-lived) site in 2018 that I ranked for $400-500 and it made me almost exactly $10k profit/month. It's all about finding that untapped niche - The hardest part.

Honestly, you might be right. I can see from your point of view it would be different, because you see hundreds of random sites where their niche selection, on-site SEO, SILO, and so on is lacking a lot - Your view point is different. I can only judge from my own sites, and the few I've seen from people PMing me which is very limited.

Most people that read this thread will never make it, that's just how it is. IM is like a 90%+ fail rate, isn't it? I've seen enough people who have been in IM for 5+ years and still stuck at $200/month. Just get a 9-5, it's not for you.

All I'm saying is; you don't NEED four figures to rank nowadays, because that's simply not true. If you can find the golden gems in SEO/niche selection, you'll be fine. That's what people are lacking, IMO. Been there, done that.

I'm good at finding SEO niches, not SEO in general. Niche matters a lot, huge difference between Porn/Gambling, Software, Health and Outdoors, for example.

If I read your "Now, don't even bother getting into SEO unless you can invest 4 figures per month" I most likely would'nt have even tried it, because I didn't have that kind of money to invest back then. Thank god I read @BassTrackerBoats guides back then, even if they're "old" now. Otherwise I might've given up, and still been dying at a 9-5. Psh.

I highly doubt that.

You sound like another IM failure TBH, you're one of the 95% who fail. #GetGud

Would you have any recommendations on where to start for someone just starting out?

No worries, if you'd rather not btw -- just thought to ask here since I can't pm.

Make money online will never be dead - there's lots of people who are lazy and want a shortcut, some are willing to pay money for it and there will always be people like that.

They want to pay for a shortcut and the only thing they'll get is disappointment.

Its dead for those "please teach me sir" or "here are my $499, please send me your course" guys, because all of them get taught the exact same thing.

for all the others, including me, who are constantly learning, improving and thinking outside the box its the el dorado. A real gold mine.

Seriously you correct mate, many new people in internet money making this days, most are newbies just coming out to learn and go off with life but exposing recent money making tips to them is very dangerous bc they are not secrete oriented

Hey guys,

First off, I'm sorry (Not really), for the clickbait title!

If I used something more plain this thread would get very little views, and these sort of posts are hard to do titles that will get attention on.

However..

The golden age of internet marketing REALLY is over!

10 years ago you could come online and if you had at least a tiny bit of focus and brains you could be making $100/day within 3-6 months with ease. Within a year you'd be hitting the $500/day and mark, and after 2 years if you weren't making $1k/day something was wrong.

seo was a piece of cake back then.. Now, don't even bother getting into SEO unless you can invest 4 figures per month or you like pain.

Who remembers the old micro niche sites? Ahhh those were days. A 1000 word homepage article with 5x500 word support articles on an emd. Blast it with some web 2's, comments, profiles and other garbage using exact match anchors every month and 6 months later you were making $1k-$2k/mo with it.

Then you had all the bots. You could find a method here on bhw, run a bot and make $100/day with a few tweaks.

Then penguin came along in 2012 and the emd update shortly after that and killed the easy seo fun.

Then around 2015-16 things started to change online. The masses flocked online looking for riches and youtube started to get big. Make money online went mainstream.

Long gone are the days of the wild west where you could promote pretty much anything you wanted, get paid and there were no repercussions. Now, even SMM panels will land you in jail, and bots are fast becoming a thing of the past with current laws and the bigger platforms having more sophisticated technology.

So is it over? Is it too late to get in on the game?

Yes it is. It's too late to get into that game.

The game of wanting to make easy passive income and just "tap into" some money stream. That was possible before, but it's just not going to happen in 2020.

But, we're actually entering an entirely new era where the opportunities are EVEN BIGGER than before, but only for the few who are willing to do what it takes to succeed in the new marketplace.

We're probably entering an era beyond anything we've ever seen in human history. There are countless new technologies being produced right now that open up a world of possibilities for entrepreneurs. AI is playing a pretty central role, but technology is advancing so fast right now and we have access to an incredible array of tools. Just one example is https://bubble.io/. You can create your own SaaS with zero programming knowledge.

What's changed?

Well, in 2016, 2017, 2018 what was making money was aggressive marketing. There were so many low quality products that were being pushed with good marketing.

This is where you need to identify that shift in mindset that's going to allow you to crush 95% of entrepreneurs..

Most people think like this :-

"I want to make money. I will start a business. Ok, what's profitable in 2020? What can I make money with? What are people buying?"

This is how you need to think to dominate the marketplace.

"I want to build cool shit. I will start a business. Ok, what problems are people having in 2020? What tools are people using to solve those problems, and can I do it better? What do people want to do, but currently can't do?"

You can see the consumer wave shifting on youtube with all the people outing "fake gurus". Tai Lopez channel is dying. Look at his views recently. People want higher quality products. Higher quality information. They're getting fed up with the bullshit.

And that, combined with all the technology we, as entrepreneurs have at our fingertips has produced an opportunity to create amazing companies that will solve real problems and generate real wealth.

And it doesn't have to be something huge. It could be a problem that hairdressers have and you could build a little SaaS tool with bubble for them, make it amazing by focusing on your product and actually communicating with your customers to find out what they want.

It involves A) Looking for problems people are having or types of businesses are having. Go specific. Don't go broad. Then B) Looking at how you can use all the existing technologies to build something to solve that problem for them. Think more glue, less invent. You want to piece things together, not create new technologies. That's all uber did. They took new technologies, smartphones, gps and 4g and solved a problem people were having (Get a taxi easily, anywhere, any time at the click of a button, without needing to find a cash machine and even if you've lost your wallet)

So in summary. If you want to succeed this decade and beyond, forget "make money online". It's dead. It's been dead for a whille and it's only getting worse. Focus on solving problems, creating products/solutions and utilizing existing technologies out there rather than fighting against them trying to squeeze a buck out of them. This applies to every aspect of business. No matter what you're doing, think "What problems do my customers have, and how can I solve those problems". If you want to be an entrepreneur, then that is what an entrepreneur is. Even if you want to be a consultant. Don't think "What kind of service makes money, what are companies buying", because alll you're doing then is what everyone else is doing and try to take a piece of an existing pie. Create your own pie and you will crush everyone else. Want to be an email marketing consultant? Don't just be an "email marketing consultant". Specialise in 1 type of business. Learn that business. Talk to the business owners to see what problems they have and use email marketing to solve problems specific to that business. Email marketing is one tool of many to solve problems a business has. It's not some magic thing that you need to convince businesses they need. It's like saying to me "Buy this shovel. You can dig big holes really easily." -- Great, but you don't know what my problem is and you're trying to sell me a great shovel, instead of finding out "Hey, I've got back problems, I'm getting old but I want to keep gardening. I love working in my garden, digging holes, but I always end up with an achy back.".. "Oh really? Well, we have something perfect for you! Our new super light, super strong shovel will make it easier for you to keep doing what you love without the pain. Try it, it's so light your hands will feel empty!"
