1 - isn't SEO getting a little too crowded to be economic for a site owner?
2 - will google find a way to fight webmasters manupulations on search results?
3 - and finally, will facebook replace google for search? (personalization and localization of search)

Sitting down with some my collgues (super affiliates and SEOs), there were claims that SEO has roughly about 2 years of full power, and after that will lose its importance as facebook personalized search will kick in.

    my thoughts:
1 -crowded? it is always possible to find long tails...
2 - as long as BHW exists, big G will have to continue working hard;) , but for white hats, it's becoming harder and harder to promote their sites.
3 - the big bang. once facebok search kicks in, white hat SEO as we know it, is no more.

Ii'll be happy to hear your thoughts on the matter.

    3) Facebook will bring big changes - but it may take a while before it fully kicks in. And when it does kick in if it becomes as popular as Facebook want - then it will effectively split the Internet in two. You will have the old regular Internet and the new Face-Internet-Book.

I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of money to be made on the regular Internet, but it will become about niches. It will be where people go to get things they can't get elsewhere, whether it be information, videos or products.

Certain groups and governments have always wanted control over the Internet, but they have never been able to achieve it. With Facebook, people having willingly built the new Internet and handed over the lock and keys to one company which will have central control over the entire New'Net.

What happens with the old Internet in the future is anyone's guess. I doubt it will be shut-off - but it will become easier to regulate. But it will also - almost certainly - become a very different experience.

It reminds me of all those Cyberworld novels. In any fiction there's always two levels to their version of the Internet...and I think that is where we are heading.

Methods used for promotion and marketing on Facebook will be more about having the money or the know-how and will probably end up being a massive virtual shopping mall for all the big corporations.

Way I see it, is if you are in a niche you develop it to the best level you possibly can, so on the Old'Net you will be an authority in your niche.

i dont believe facebook will develop this way. In fact i know many people who already are bored by facebook and hardly lock in. Internet changes fast. The winners today can be loosers in 2 years if someone new comes who offers something better :)

Also i think SEO will split into many many fields. Mobile seo, seo for apple, seo for andoid, seo for desktops and google will loose its position but it will take years. Its natural that you cant have 90% of the market for ever.

Also i think that backlinks will loose its importance over time. Its already started but still backlinks are the most important thing in seo. I can rank everything with enough "Quallity" backlinks

Facebook may want that to happen but honestly its not going to. People are loosing serious trust in that company they have to get into damage control mode if they want to last more than a couple more years, let alone be owning the internet.

I think these concerns are unfounded. As long as Google does not go and do something really silly, I think they are safe as the top search engine.

It takes a lot of savvy to develop a search algorithm that can compete with Google and although Facebook is the king of social networking, search algorithms is a totally different thing

Regarding white hat, I think that's here to stay. The factors that constitute components of white hat may change, for example the recent addition of page loading time, but white hat will stay for the duration

    IN MY OPINION :)

I agree. I really think Facebook is going to lose a lot of their following. They have some serious privacy issues and the owner is quite shady in the way he does business.

Remember my space a few years ago. Something new will come along and facebook will be an also ran. Saying that does not mean you should not be exploiting it now. The net is always evolving.

Find a way like a solution? No, there will always be room for manipulation. And let's be honest, google's goal of getting the absolute best and most relevant results to any end-user is unrealistic. Perhaps the most relevant solution is a website that just launched, and has no backlinks. How will google match the two? It's reliant on the algorithms that currently exist, and while they will continue to be adjusted, modified, and upgraded to increasingly even the playing field, for the forseeable future content, backlinks and traffic will continue to dictate the value of a domain.

seo is going to switch a lot because of mobile and DO-engines like SIRI and Google NOW. They give u results directly a lot of the time like result cards or local results through Google+ and Yelp. This is making SEO obsolete slowly but surely. But for now, its allll goood! Keep doing what ur doing :)

SEO isn't obselete, and we have to think strategically and not tactically. That means earning links, getting more shares etc which means quality content. A good SEO is like a *****, it doesn't look like that they're there.

This is a sign of economically advancing that sites tends to be. I have no thought on the second question and no one can replace google in respect of searching.

Google will catch the manipulations but how does it matter. I think it is more regarding getting good return in small span of time now. I do not think that Facebook will last forever. I do not see it doing that good after 5-8 years.
