Having at least kept a passive eye on the IM scene the past few years, I see that in the world of the internet, 2 or 3 years ago is the ancient times. So, my question is this: where is SEO and IM going?

    My (mehhh, kinda) prediction:

I always figured that it is long term unsustainable until recently. I imagined something like a Malthusian catastrophe, an overpopulated internet with over saturated micro nano femto-niches. Most people making money are making pennies as more established and powerful authoritative sites take over the rankings.

Oh, and Google gets into retail and manufacturing and several other industries. The become a large corporation kind of like BuyNLarge from WALL-E. We all become fat on a spaceship.

There will be no need for IM or SEO

Everyone will trust Google so much we will give them our credit card numbers and passwords.

They will just send shit to us that they decide we want and automatically bill us for it.

The future of SEO is creating a site for users and knowing that any "recipe for SEO" is indeed fail. I appreciate the people who post the fail recipes though, because it keeps the suggest me script kiddies in Google's radar while the rest of the legit site owners make a living.

This. I see much more emphasis being placed on G+ authorship too, where sites will act as hubs for G+ authors, and the author's hub will basically be their "site", so authors can create content on any site they want and rank their main authorship profile.

IM is going to die soon, at least that is my theory. By 2020 , only the strongest and vets will survive. There will b e no more room for newbies

Maybe some google glass type glasses that project light into your eyes, like your vision is working right now, but there will be no screens, this light will do no damage to your eyes, its like real vision, except you will see some html69 and css33 design and buy burgers, taxi, whores, amazon products and Jr. VIP with your eyes.
Oh and dont forget to click on my adsense banners with your double eye blink.

Most of the basic same stuff that worked in 1999 still works in 2014 and will still work in 2020. A webring(PBN) and a f*ck load of content is what google and other search engines still love and will continue to. Google knows that Geek.com and ExtremeTech.com are part of the same company and they have "footprints" but it doesn't hurt them or the other companies owned by Ziff Davis http://www.ziffdavis.com/.

The only difference is that in a few years the churn and burn methods will be harder to use than they used to be. But that doesn't mean one has to give up "Blackhat", even major companies such as yahoo and cnn use blackhat marketing methods.

You were dealing with webrings in 1999 when you were 9 years old then... ?

No, but I've visited them since around 1999 early 2000. But if one goes back to early articles on webrings, they used to do the same thing that PBN's are doing today.

By the posts in this thread, 90%+ of IM folks have no chance against me... that's the future of IM for me personally.

What matters online, offline, in IM, in war, in SEO or in getting blowjobs, is being better than the next guy. End of story. It is called competition. And most people make the mistake of thinking Google is the enemy when in fact Google is the medium, the battleground if you wish. The fact the battleground is made of moving sands and killer creatures is not a bad thing, just gets rid of the "unfit".
