    Hey guys,

Thought it would be good to hear how each of you build links to a brand new site, and where you get these links from.

For me, whenever I create a new domain I'll do the following
    Facebook page link
    Youtube channel page link
    G+ link
    Crunch Base
Web 2.0 Platforms (Wordpress, Blogger, Blog.com, Yola Sites and Live Journal are the one I use first)
    Ezine Articles

This is always the first few links i'll build.

How about you, what are your strategies or blueprints for initial links on a brand new domain?

My system is much like yours.

    Lots of social shares

Followed by relevant forum posts, and social groups like ning etc ( BasiclyBasically creating the social weather)

I would then do a bit of relevant blog commenting for a while.

I would keep doing this until it has aged and built up a good social presence, then go to town on web 2, articles, Wiki and anything else I can get. Spam spam spam.

Similar here. Social shares, and web 2.0, then a few related content commenting links, just to let SEs know what it's all about.

1st, i don't count fb and like as backlinks ...
    2nd, ezine..really?
3rd, at start i build only relevant links which gets traffic (reddit and like,blog/news sites comments, forums etc)

if you can't write a good comment what you can do is go to some popular news site (cnn lets say) find the exact news post and copy some good comment to another news site/blog with a link.

When building links to a new site I start with article directories and niche related blog comments. The key thing that I do to is NOT to use keyword anchors! It's just not natural to have links with your main keyword anchor right from the off.

    This post explains: http://doseoyourself.com/want-to-rank-a-new-site-dont-use-keyword-anchors/

the links I build to start with are raw url's and generic terms, this looks much more natural and builds a solid foundation for your back link profile

I do ZERO linking to the homepage (at first despite the temptation), I bookmark internal links. I have done this for a long time and it works for me.

Ezine is manually reviewed so could be a sign of quality to G.

I will start with Web 2.0s, Facebook and Google+ first. Get your Google authorship linked to your website.

After that begin tiered link building and diversifying your link types and domains.

I too would give it a lot of shares, tweets and plus's. Even a couple of Digg's.

Probably because they think it sucks for traffic, which it does - but I think it could be a good indicator of quality for Google because its manually reviewed.

I think its cause Ezine itself was penalized by some google update a few years ago. Ever since that happened Ezine raised their review standards can right now accept only well written unique articles.

Ezine is used for backlinks and backlinks only. No one write an article for them because they really feel like sharing some good quality information for free, which is what Ezine was hoping people would do. Google knows that every article on there is written by a webmaster for a backlink an that's it. So, they know what the webmaster is trying to alter the search results un-naturally.

I wouldn't build any links to a new website. I would build content and lots of it. A backlink is not worth anything if it's pointing to a steaming pile of....
