I visited Google Caffeine yesterday:
http://www2.sandbox.google.com/

Google Caffeine said:
Thank You!

We appreciate all the feedback from people who searched on our Caffeine sandbox.

Based on the success we've seen, we believe Caffeine is ready for a larger audience. Soon we will activate Caffeine more widely, beginning with one data center. This sandbox is no longer necessary and has been retired, but we appreciate the testing and positive input that webmasters and publishers have given.

Holy shit! Does that mean Google Caffeine is officially going to be released to the public soon? End of old Google algorithm?

Nothing will change, it just needs you'll need to work a bit harder. That's all.

Is been tested and live for as far as i know.

Also during year you'll see that some other things are gonna get integrated.
Like audio indexing.
Which is still in beta right now ;
Code:
http://labs.google.com/gaudi

It bassicly uses the audio from any video or audio piece and set a marker at certain identified keywords in the audio.
When you search for a keyword or a news item you will automaticly be served a video snippet on the subject.
And instead of uploading everything to youtube and you can now submit your own video via a sitemap aside from your normal sitemap;
Code:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=80474

There are tons of new sitemaps you can submit to google check it out;
Code:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=156184

They are doing this because they are stepping up to the plate for a search engine 2.0.
Like wolframalpha only this will work.
See the function that wolframalpha has is that it can not only search data but also compile different forms of data together to create new data.
For example got to
Code:
http://wolframalpha.com
And type in: Where is the iss?
So you ask wolfromalpha where the international space station is and gives it's current location by calculatig live data feeds.
You can see a talk on the next gen search engine here;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TIOH80Qg7Q
watch out 150 min long
But thats what the next gen google will do. And thats why there now is a possibility to submit a feed as a sitemap.
They need live data.
It also means there dependence from links decreases.
Thats also why they have been experimenting with Google trends.
Not to give you a opportunity to rank fast but to compute live data.
