MLMS have been around forever, and won't go anywhere anytime soon. a new sucker is born everyday. I say "sucker" because IMOP, MLMs are nothing but a huge joke. Most are nothing more than pyramid schemes.

MLM or multi-level marketing is basically this. Person at the top jacks up the price so high then sells it through a network of downlines who are usually persuaded to either buy some of the products or pay some money for training and materials. The downlines don't think much of it because they're eyes are fixed on the huge income they think they'll get when they build their own network of downlines. Unfortunately the majority of them don't manage to build a good network of downlines and sooner or later the MLM loses its hype and fizzles out.

well, as idiotic as MLM is... I have to (embarrassingly) say it is what brought me to IM... I started with global domains and immediately realized it is a crock lol. I do agree with BD media though - a sucker IS born every day, and the concept of "work hard at first and then let your downline work for you for the rest of your life" seems perfect for the lazy population, and we all know 97% of the population is lazy.

with that said - no it will not die, your friends method just got saturated or the audience he was targeting is used to his promotional techniques. That is why all businesses change up their ad campaigns every year or two - people get used to it and then it becomes ineffective.

    Just my two cents.

Why all the hate towards MLM? When you are the pot, it's always silly to complain about the kettle. As in:

95% of people in MLM = make little or no money
95% of people in IM = make little or no money

The MLM people look at all the IM failures, and proclaim it's a sucker-born-every-minute crock, too. Just because something is difficult, doesn't mean it's a scam. Sales related business, of whatever kind, is a high failure rate, high turnover rate industry.

Actually the situation is like that because people are spending through these process but not getting or making appreciable money. Let see what happens later.

MLM isn't dying but I'd imagine it's stagnating from the recession. People aren't as trusting with their money since credit doesn't come as easy as it used to.

It's also possible people have become more informed and jaded towards MLM thanks to the internet.

I agree... but there are those cheesy crap MLM's companies that pop up every 3 weeks that do give the legitimate companies a bad name.
