The G is really ticking me off, after seo for first 2-3 weeks i was in the 20s then back to 100s for a month, then back to 25-24-23-22-21 and now after that it jumped from 21 to 54. MSN steadily holds me at #1-#2 for the same keyword.
I have a very good amount of backlinks and a pretty good onpage seo

the only thing that I think might be hurting me is about 2000 links coming from 3 e-commerce sites that i host and have my link with the keyword anchor text. Since about 10 sites in total, including my main site are coming from the same ip, could G think it's a link farm or something and degrade my site?
Is there any way to check why my site is hurting in the serps?

btw i started seo and linkbuilding at the end of december of this year, and my main keyword competition (checked with "") is 9,380,000. Maybe i should just give g more time?

anyone have any experience or input on this?

thx

It is just google being the DICK that it is. They are just screwing with their algorythm. I have a page doing the exact same thing. I tweak it and get into #4 hold there and then down to 20.

Grab a few more targeted BL with good anchor and wait.

yeah i spent few hours analyzing my 5000 backlinks and found out that pr and articles are doing the best job.
I'll focus on that more instead of social bookmarking and directory submission

Google is kind of an ass, I recommend just doing a spray and pray for the most part so that everything balances it out.

Could be all the links pointing to you, more than five from the same class C IP is not a good idea generally speaking.

that could be a problem as i have 2000 or so from 4 website and all the same ip

uhhh..Dude, tons of links coming from a couple of sites probably will hurt you.
Google isn't dumb. If they see that many links coming from just 2 sites or so, they are going to know the web master of those two sites has an interest in the main site getting those links. It's not based on what people would click anyway if they had not been to that site. I don't interlink any of my sites together, mainly because the content isn't relevant to the others but also because, trust me, Google knows when you are trying to give yourself PR/Back links...

thx ninja.. it made me think and i'll take them off asap

it's good to own the server and be able to change stuff on other sites :)

How old is the site... takes about 10 months to stabilize if you are playing a long term game... It gets even more tricky if your keywords are affected by seasonal trends. Some of my sites are page 1 in Q4 but page 3 for the rest of the year.

the domain was bought back in 2006, but the site was never updated or optimized until december of this year.

Don't worry about all those backlinks on your eSites. You only get a google slap for things only you can do. If having a ton of links on an eSite hurt peoples google rankings you can bet your ass that I'd through my competitors links on.

When thinking if google is docking you points just think of what only you could do.

anyone have any experience or input on this?

thx

Yes, it sounds like ou're doing too much, google is judging your trust and slapping you mildly when it believes you're building un natural and irrelevant links and such.

i agree with ninja. Since all of those e-sites are hosted on the same ip as my main site, and they point thousands of links at the main site, google prbly thinks i have a big link farm etc.

Just like with a blog farm all linking to each other on the same ip - google penalizes that

I took off the links, but it will take prbly a few months for search engines to delete the old ones

try getting 1-4 trusted links a day and you'll do fine

It is called Google dance. New sites may on Google sandbox and experience quick changes in SERP. Continue in building links you will be fine.

it keeps jumping and now im at #31 so hopefully first page is coming soon
