If I were you I would look into a niche that is profitable and you know at least a little something about, make sure there are marketable affiliate programs. Once you have these then make your site around these products, if you have no money for hosting then try a free blog site or some free host such as freeola.com to get you setup.
Once you have your site use a social bookmark shortcut tool, plenty out there or maybe download a naughty version of SENuke or bookmarking demon. Use whatever mehod you can to get backlinks and traffic to it. Blog comments work well for links, blog posts linking back to your site, article submissions, bookmarking sites, directory submissions.
All these things should drive traffic to your new site and get you indexed pretty quick, depending on your niche also you should be flying up the charts.
Most of all dont give up, just keep on driving forward, get more sites up whenever you feel like you hit a brick wall. The more sites you have the more linking power you have.
None of this is particularly quick and easy but it is the best way to start off while you learn about tools like xrumer. If you are not sure about the price of xrumer then to be honest you probably dont need it yet.
