I travel quite a bit and am a steakhouse junkie. The best steak I've ever had was the Maytag Bleu New York Strip at "The Famous" in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Drooling just thinking about it...

Where did you get the best steak you've ever eaten?

Best steaks I've ever eaten were in Japan. Had a Kobe Beef steak in Tokyo once that actually melted in my mouth. President Chibo in Osaka does a mega steak if you are ever there. Also had some quality steaks from Argentinian steak house although a friend of mine that was born in Uruguay reckons theres are better.

Isn't mega steak just top round that's been beaten tender?

I had some Uruguayan beef shipped to me once; wasn't impressed. I think the dry ice may have fucked it up though.

i think they sell whats called Kobe steak all around the world now so its a bit of a generic term. A real Kobe steak in Japan is from a particular strain of Wagyu cattle. They look after them really well...special diets etc...They present the steak to you before they cook it. It looks good enough to eat raw.

In South America nothing beats Argentinian-origin beef, which they buy in Brazil and make for $$$. How do you get beef shipped to you? It's illegal to ship organics or carry on airplanes almost everywhere.

I've heard of the fame of Kobe steak but I've been told it costs around U$ 70 for a serving in Japan.

Ive tried it in the US (texas, ny, cali), ive tried it in hk, in japan, in kz.

I can guarantee you one thing. The steak will always taste amazing as long as the meat quality is brilliant. So go ahead and ask where it its from. I guarantee you wont find better meat quality than in Spain.

I was in the vicinity at the time, we'll say.

Any particular restaurant and cut? I ate at La Parilla de Mario in Madrid once. Very, very nice. Got very, very drunk, lol.

Anyone in the house from Kansas City? I'll be there next month for a week and if I'm to believe the tales this is the Mecca for steak-lovers.

Thanks for playing, mate, but that place looks like a typical run-of-the-mill-drunk-Las Vegas-tourist slop house.

Where would you recommend a good steak from NY?

If you're anywhere near Manhattan, I would recommend Smith & Wollensky on 3rd Avenue. That's some serious fucking beef and some seriously-obsessed-with-perfection owners.

    Thanks!

I kind of have a thing for trying awesome food but it's kind of difficult to find great places that aren't like over-hyped :p

Why I made the thread, actually. Part of what I do to make a living is manipulate review sites. If we can't get an objective review here one isn't possible, right? lol.

Well, that's 2 votes for the same one place!
