    There is not one.

I use a lot of different sources because I have a variety of needs and I imagine that most people have a variety of needs as well. I do not always use the least expensive service available, nor do I always use the fastest one around and I rarely use the same service twice in a row. Because different services offer different levels of quality and different speeds of delivery, I find it nearly impossible to use make one service or content writer for my SEO needs the go to company.

I've paid as little as 2.00 per article and as much as 35.00 per article and was happy both times. Different writers/different services offer different products that I use in different areas. Inexpensive writing is fine for off site properties and short posts on forums or even yahoo answer types of sites; mid-level pricing can be be used for some tiered content, on some of your sites, on some off site properties that have a little link juice or authority and the high end writing I use for my own real money sites and my higher end client sites.

The talk that you can't find good writers a this place or that place is pretty much a bunch of bunk, narrow minded and can cost you in terms of time and money as well as make you look silly. There is a place for almost any kind of writer that is offering a service and, although it may not be perfect for you, odds are it works for someone's SEO situation.

Here are a few things I do to make sure that I get back what I want from a content writer for my website when I am ordering articles. I tried to follow below formula fairly closely as it saves me a little bit of work, and sometimes a lot of work, when it comes to editing for publication:

    1) Provide a title.
    2) Provide keywords.
    3) Ask for certain KW density.
    4) Give a brief idea to the writer as to my purpose.
    5) Tell the writer the URL that I am targeting.

Do that and you usually have your bases covered as to what you expect and it gives you a better shot at getting what you want in return. I believe that you?ll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the article you get back if you follow those guidelines for your website content and you?ll not only save time in editing but the articles that you get back will rank better, based on the content, and make you more money, which is what we build websites for anyway.

Besides it's immensely helpful when a client does this. It makes it so much easier to be on the same page and give them what they want. Sadly 90% people don't bother.

I want the writer to look at the site that I am promoting via his or her content. The more information I can give the writer, the better chance I have of getting back the content I want.

Without educating your team you are shooting in the dark in addition to making their job harder.

Yep it really helps to know the context. For instance, Are you selling something and want a highly biased article or is it just purely informational and should be highly researched. It also gives the site owner consistency in terms of the 'writing tone' throughout the site, once we read the other articles.

Great tips, this will help the writers get a better idea of what you're looking for.

hmm apparently I have not been giving some of failed writers enough ammo or tools to work with before declaring they failed, I might try this out in the future, thanks.

Exactly, a lot of the fail would fall on us, the buyers. If we do not instruct then we can't expect to get what we want. Same with any employees but there has been a bit of banter (some may call it whining) lately about content writers and thought I'd share my .02 and try and put things in perspective.

Truth be told, I bet that you can get almost any writer to give you what you want, within their scope of service, with no revisions and all parties be happy by using some of the above.

I can't tell you the last time I sent content back and asked for a revision as I'm clear in what I am asking for and also understand what the service is capable of offering.
