Has anyone ever heard of text message marketing? i trying to find software that will market my affiliate program thru text messages...anyone came across something like this?

thats a damn good idea!!..

i'd like to hear if anyone knows anything about this too!!!...seriously..

Thanks bro!!!

You could always use AIM add the phone numbers and text them yourself. add your friends and text them some cell phone porn offers:)

Setup some AIM accounts, then add cellphone numbers such as 555-0123 then 555-0124 and so on as your buddies.

Then send out a few IM's to all of those people such as :

"wana come see if you recognize me online, at xoxo18bama.datehop.net , well hope to see you soon!"

Make sure you signup and use a proxy when doing this. And you need to work in numbers because most people will not signup or even goto it.

Your best bet is to try to harvest college males cell phone numbers, which they post openly without even knowing, such as the directory of local frats and the members ect...

Be creative and once you get your own method down it will work like a charm.

mista that was a great idea, where can i sign up or the affiliate program for datehop? I have a spin Id really like to try?

If you mean cell phone text msging, you need an SMS mailer or spammer. The problem is it is illegal as hell and even with proxies you will be traced back through your affiliate company. They do not want the heat on them, so they will turn your info over to the feds. In theory the idea was awesome 4 or 5 yrs ago when you could find the automated software to send out hundred's of thousands each day, problem is the cell phone companies come after you in a hurry.

If you want to hit up aim/yahoo/icq then just do a search for aim spammer or icq spammer. Even the old ones from yrs back still work because aol still uses the oscar servers to send there messages with.

thanx for the heads up, I was going to try this. Forget it now, dont needs the Feds at my door.

LOL, you wont get the feds at your door, you just cant spam a sht load of autotexts. Like once in a while should not be problem. But if you sending out millions of text messages all the time then ya I would be worried

I heard of this more often called "Mobile Marketing" than text message marketing.

Also read it's to be one of the biggest growth areas in advertising.
Like CPA offers the legitimate idea is to have owners optin for a freebie.

Then I guess it's beat 'em bloody until they figure how to unsubscribe.

Some how I got on a list and recently started to get ads sent to my phone.
I normally just glance and delete asap. Find it annoying personally and can't see it
convincing me to buy anything.
I am going to contact my provider to see about getting it stopped.

Ok.
Let me just start of with to tell you that I'm no master in this field, but I have some good knowledge about it ...

Right to the spot. I can confirm that this is correct.
I've been involved in something like this before, so I know a little bit about the subject.

Jepp, I can confirm that this is correct to.
"Mobile Marketing" and "SMS Marketing" would be an other term to search for to get a lot of good information.

Well, let me just tell you that it is possible. BUT...

Your facing two problems:

1. Cost

Do you think this is free? Let me tell you it's not :)
* You need to establish a "SMS Gateway" to accomplish mass sms send outs. This is expensive. I think the cost for this would be around $20,000 (but it's about 1,5 yrs since I checked this.)
In stead of buying or establish a "SMS Gateway" your self you could "hire" one. This would work like a Co-op with others. You could do this through some of the medium to big telecom companies (not all offer this kind of service).
* The second aspect of this is that you will get charged for every SMS you send out. This will not be a big amount pr sms but if you send out 10,000 sms's the $'s quickly add up!
* There is actually also possible to do a co-op with someone that already is in a co-op (has a contract) with a telecom company. You will then just get billed more for the sms's you send out. But on the other side you would not have to deal with a lot of technical aspects of co-op or the SMS Gateway it self.

2. Targeting the right people to get a good response..

You just can't send out a bunch of sms's. That would kill your financials :)
* The best way to do this would probably be to get your customers to opt-in to a form where they also leaves their nr, and you have to state in your privacy terms that you will send them sms's after this.
* Or you could use "reverse sms"/get the prospect to send your system an sms and now you could send him sms's (.."reverse sms" was mentioned earlier in this thread)

NOW THE FUN STUFF AND COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO DO SOMETHING SIMILAR

"Mobile Marketing" and "SMS Marketing" is one thing but something that is almost similar, way more cost effective and easier is "Bluetooth marketing" and "WIFI Marketing" and also "WAP Marketing".

This is the better way to get your "sms"/message into a person?s mobile device/PDA/laptop and things like that...

NB: This is permission based marketing. Prospects say yes/no to marketing.

A "bluetooth gateway" would cost you from $200-$2000 :) Depends if you want one that can be carried around as a belt or one you hook up with electricity and a internet connection so you could edit messages from home and send out with a push of a button :)
And This comes with user friendly software that you could run on your pc. Childs play!

Of course here the reach/range would be a problem with bluetooth.
* With a normal bluetooth range you could get people from 10-20meters in radius. This range expands everyday as the technology gets better.
* With WAP and WIFI (wireless internet) you could reach even longer!

Think about this:
Where I live (in the main capital of Norway, Oslo) where there is living aprox. 500.000 people + a lot of people come into the city everyday for work and stuff like that... A cinema tested the response of bluetooth last year (when the new Superman flick were released). They found that a lot of people have bluetooth turned on all the time :)

Now, I can't remember the exact numbers but I think it was something like this:
And this is for one day guys...
* Pushed bluetooth messages on people passing by the cinema: 100.000
* Messages received and downloaded: 90.000
* Acceptance: 90%

The message they sent out was something like this: "Do you want to be Superman?"
If the prospect clicked "Yes" on that message he would receive a Superman logo :)

These bluetooth gateways are intelligent.
The gateway remembers the IMEI# of the phone for recognition (I think it was the IMEI#, not sure now. hehe... )
You can load the gateway up with as many messages as you want (Message A, B, C...) and you could serve them one at a time.
For instance if a guy accepts message A, the next time he passes by the cinema he would receive message B and so on ... If he didn't choose to accept message A you could also tell the gateway to never send this message to this person again, ... or just re-send it the next time he walks by :) (... bluetooth spam .. hehe...)

Now, there's a lot of things you could do with this...
You could load up your gateway with all formats of a known cell phone:

? Text [.txt files]
? Pictures [GIF or JPG files]
? Animations [Animated GIF files]
? Sound/Audio [WAV, RMF, MP3, MP4 and Ringtone files]
? Video [RM, 3GP and MP4 files]
? vCard [Business Card files]
? vCal [Calendar Event files]

... got your imagination floating? Think of what you could do with this! Hehe.. Especially if you live in a big city.

My personal favorite is the last one: vCal

Now back to your original post astradamasta

With this you could target your market more.
Push out the bluetooth message to all that walks by. Ask them something. I don't know what your niche is but as an example: "Want to get rid of your back pain the easy way?"
Prospect clicks Yes/No.
If "Yes" you send him a "vCal" !! :) The cool thing here is that you could set the time and date when this will activate ... jepp, just like a worm/virus :) lol ... So when would your prospect be most likely to sit in front of a computer? At 09.00 PM ! lol ... Alarm goes of and your v-calendar will show a message and your URL! :)

So, if the prospect originally clicked "No" on your bluetooth message? What then? Remember that the bluetooth gateway remembers the IMEI#, you could just tell it to never send that message to that person again, in stead you could send a new message: "Want to know how to bake a cake?" Yes/No? (or something like that) ... you see? It doesn?t stop with one message. You can constantly feed the mobile device a new message :)

P.S: This could be used for personal marketing use or for bigger commercial use. If you want to know more about this you could also google "hotspot" or "whatspot".
(This is spots where a commercial company has placed out bluetooth and wifi access points. Most WIFI actually, for surfing the internet.
But you can get a good read if you google that...)

RESOURCES : Ok, So where to get these Bluetooth Gateways?

For bluetooth devices you could carry around and push out messages every where you go - one of these:
Code:
- http://www.ad-pods.com/ad-pods.html

For a HOTSPOT - one of these:
Code:

Hope that helps.

(May be I would get my first "thank you" for this? lol ...)

Ok.

Or you could use one of the many providers of this service who allow you to buy credits, the more you buy the cheaper they become. Better option than spending 20k.

Upload your database and send away. But i like the blue tooth thing, i'm gonna look into that.

Here's what i pay: 10001 - [email protected] each

Funny...I just got this email today:

Hello everyone,

We have just released a new product that each and everyone of you are going to love. We have been working on this project for 2 to 3 months now and it is going to be well worth it. We have many, many people waiting on the release of this software because they see the value and power in this program. We are calling it the Auto Text Mailer cause it actually uses multi-million dollar email gatways to send the text messages. (YES WE FOUND A LOOP HOLE :) This software is POWERFUL. We are going to offer 5 different versions.

The cheapest version will allow you to send 2,500 text per day. The next version will allow you to send 5,000 per day. The next 7,500 per day, and the most powerful version will allow you to send 10,000 text per day. These text are 100% successfully delievered. These text are sent very fast only taking 1 hour to completely send 10,000 text. That is pretty incredible. We are going to only offer this software to the first 250 customers for the prices we have listed because this software has so much potential by reaching millions of people. With our previous program Auto Text Sender we are limited to what we can do. We are really in the hands of the free sites we use. They control what we can and can't do. With our new program Auto Text Mailer we send the text messages through Gmail, which allows us to send 500 messages a day from each Gmail account. So with this program, we will not have to worry about updating the software every week, and are guaranteed that each text message is sent successfully. Gmail delievers the text within 15 seconds of them being sent. We are offering an affiliate program with this software, with the affiliate receiving 40% commission per sale. Just let us know if you are interested. As with the Auto Text Sender, we are working on an update now. It should be available next week. It's a great idea to have both pieces of software, because after you have reached your limit for the day with Auto Text Mailer, you can use Auto Text Sender which has no limit.

Get your copy of Auto Text Mailer today at http://WWW.AUTOTEXTMAILER.COM
Remember only 250 copies will be sold.

Thanks Everyone, for being great customers and having tons patience with us. We try to handle everything in a timely manner and answer each and every one of your questions. We receive over 200 emails a day so we may accidentally look over 1 or 2 at times. If you send us a question and we dont reply back within 24 hours then please send us the question again.

Short message from one of the programmers of the software:
I couldn't wait to actually use it for my self when we were done beta testing it. I ran a full 10,000 text messages and it took me about 45 min to 50 min to perform. I was really shocked even been one of the top programmers, lol, it was amazing. I had 21 emails loaded and it ran through all of them perfect with no error whatsoever. I can't beleive I just sent 10,000 text message that quick. Its funny to, cause what I was advertising to test it actually had 13 sign ups :) I think I had 2 more also the day after from just sending that 10,000. You all this software is amazing, goto http://www.autotextmailer.com and watch the video and try out a demo. Make sure to goto the help file and following it to see how to run it properly.

Thanks Everyone,
Shannon & Thomas

Anybody here on BHW try autotextmailer? Maybe just the demo? Sounds very interesting but I'm at work and cen't demo right now.

I saw something like this awhile ago, but was unsure if I should try and use it. This is really the same concept as earlier ones. I always thought it would be great if it could be targeted. Don't want to send to just anybody.
Code:
http://autotextsender.com/index.html

BTW, norway000x great post!! I had always been asking some of those questions to myself. Lot's of info that I can use. A few of my colleagues have expressed interest in something like this to promote a business and get more customers. I will pass it along and maybe reap the benefits. :D

JARED YOU RULE, or maybe I rule? Anyways guys it was too easy. Downloaded it for free here autotextsender.com/success.html (default payment complete landing page:p ) It's the eval copy but def looks crackable. Might try serials.ws when in get home

Hehe... yeah that is funny.
Probably a great tool for spaming, or were there a way to get the "traffic" targeted?
Where to get the 10,000 phone #'s to send to? Auto generated numbers?!?
10,000 text messages sent and only 13 signups? That's like 0,0013 CTR That's not much... I bet there would be a lot of angry people out there.
Or am I missing something here...

Yeah, that's why I never used it. You would be sending messages out to just random people.

EX: Pastor sits down to dinner with his family and he and his whole family gets a text about a swingers club opening up down the street.

If you had people opt in for it it could be great. Private invites where those who show up get prizes etc. Post out about who wins and they did because of said text the received. No phone companies pissed off and no angry Baptist ministers at your door.:D
