What up BHW. Yup, it's another Instagram journey thread.

    Background:
This is my first real dive into IM, I've attempted a view other ventures with little luck and needed something more automated as I'm often out and about. I'm a 22-year-old college student looking for some extra income - not looking to make thousands a week yet because that's just unrealistic, but a couple hundred a week would be more than ideal for beer money and the like.

After a lot of reading I narrowed it down to IG (at least for now. If I see success, I will expand to other social media platforms) and that I would mainly focus on selling unobtrusive shoutouts and retaining engagement as best I can (so not a spam account, basically). While I am using Massplanner, I am trying to grow my accounts as legitimately as possible. So far I've been (for the most part) manually posting to each of the four accounts I have going right now, making sure to focus on making the captions engaging (tag a friend, comment your thoughts, etc.).

    The Plan:
As of right now I'm focusing on getting each account to around 10-20k. This will probably take me a while, but it will give me time to do more research on where to sell shoutouts and what kind of rates they go for given my engagement levels. Do you guys think I could sell shoutouts by the hour at that low of followers, or would I be better off charging a flat rate?

    Stats So Far:
So I have four accounts - a comedy page, a dog page (pretty general, might need to switch to a specific breed), a general quote page and an entrepreneurial quote page (money quotes lol).
Up until now, it seems I'm getting the most engagement on my comedy page, and the highest rise in followers on my general quotes (GQ from now on) page. The entrepreneurial quotes (EQ from now on) page has the best ratio so far, but is also the newest, so the statistics are a little skewed.

All of the accounts are phone verified with my phone since IG now allows each phone to have 5 accounts (also why I'm not using any proxies) so hopefully that helped legitimize them in IG's eyes.

I'm not particularly skilled in Excel so if someone has a better way of keeping these stats, let me know!

(I started on August 1st, but didn't begin keeping track of stats until the 5th.)
Comedy Page (over a year [maybe even two] old):
I seem to get the most engagement on this page, mostly people tagging their friends with maybe about 25% spam.

Dog Page (about two weeks old):

I think I hit the explore page with one of my pictures, because it absolutely blew up while the rest of them get around an average of 60 per picture. As of now I think it has about 1,600 likes and 50 comments - second to that is a picture with 80 likes lol. Not getting very much engagement with this account. Could be because the niche is too saturated, or maybe my hashtags (I've been experimenting using websites like gethashtags and what-not).

GQ Page (around a year old):

This one seems to be growing pretty steadily, I just recently started making my own content for it and tried to stop relying on others as much as possible (I'll still steal some here and there).

EQ Page (brand new - about a week old):

Not much to say with this one as it's still pretty new. Seems to be growing steadily though.

    Massplanner Configurations:
Now this is the section I'd love some feedback on, because I just started with massplanner and am still messing with all of the settings. So far I am only using the follow/unfollow tools on alternating days (so I follow one day and unfollow the next). I have all four accounts set to take a break on Tuesdays and only like a couple hundred pictures from a certain set of hashtags. I don't want to make this post too long with more pictures so I'll just include the one I'm using for my comedy page, as it is my oldest and the one from my EQ page, as it is almost brand new (under a week old). Let me know if you guys think these are too aggressive/passive.

Edit: These pictures are kind of huge, should I just post the links to the image?
    Comedy Page:

Well, that's about it for now, not really sure what else to add. I'll try and update this as often as I can and hope that we can all help each other along the way!

    Till then,
    - Terpy

Thanks guys! Hopefully it goes well. I might also give e-commerce a try and possibly throw up a clothing site or something, just for that additional income.

I'll try and report back here later tonight

Hey everyone, just a quick little update. Got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday so I was way too high to post anything lol (even forgot to update my excel sheet). Oh well.

    Heres my pages' current stats:

    Comedy:
    Followers: 1061. Following: 1889. Ratio: .56. Likes: 3,844. Comments: 85. Pictures: 38

    GQ:
    Followers: 1105. Following: 1614. Ratio: .68. Likes: 2,203 Comments: 45. Pictures: 28

    EQ:
    Followers: 146. Following: 131. Ratio: 1.11. Likes: 3,004. Comments: 75. Pictures: 32

    Dog:
    Followers: 282. Following: 223. Ratio: 1.26. Likes: 763. Comments: 52. Pictures: 15

Slowly but surely they seem to be growing. Does anyone have any advice regarding my aforementioned massplanner settings? Anything I should change?

    Thanks, talk to yall later.

Hi man nice journey. I think you should pause massplanner for about 6-7 hours whilst you sleep. Im still not sure why two of my accounts got banned. It was either following too many people or because MP was running 24/7. I reduced the following and turned nightmode on and have had no more bans so far

Hey dude, thanks for the kind words!

I actually have a global nightmode enabled from 11:00 PM to 6:30 AM so it doesn't run while I sleep! Forgot to add that page of settings to the original post.

Thanks guys! What's the point of a journey thread when people don't reveal their niche/settings. That always confused me! The point is to learn so why do people hold information back! I've been super busy the past two days so haven't had much time to post, but ill get back here later today and do a small update.

For sure, youre probably right lol. With MP how do I seperate multiple comments? Just put them on new lines?

Thank you!! Just added about 5-10 variations for each account.

    Here's an update:

    Comedy:

    Followers: 1081. Following: 1821. Ratio: .59. Likes: 5,451. Comments: 112. Pictures: 54

    GQ:
    Followers: 1203. Following: 1646. Ratio: .73. Likes: 2,354. Comments: 52. Pictures: 37

    EQ:
    Followers: 168. Following: 165. Ratio: 1.05. Likes: 3,570. Comments: 119. Pictures: 40

    Dog:
    Followers: 341. Following: 287. Ratio: 1.19. Likes: 1,339. Comments: 65. Pictures: 21

    Notes:
Seems I get the most comments on the EQ page, but a good amount of them are what I presume to be spam (you know, things like "great content!" lol)
Most genuine engagement is on the comedy page where most of the comments are still people tagging their friends or replying to my caption.
Dog and GQ page are slowly growing but don't quite see as much action as the other two necessarily - it's still probably too early to tell though.

    Question:
I've been starting to consider investing a couple bucks into shoutouts, have you guys had success with these in the past? (What kind of follower increase did you see? [examples would be great for those of us who are just getting into this]) So far I've been offered a lifetime post from a 66.5k account for $17 (he gets an average of 2,000 likes and 70-90 comments per pictures). Seems like a pretty good deal, or am I mistaken? I was offered that on my EQ page.

On my GQ page I was offered a $15 lifetime post from a 58.2k page (which gets an avg of 4,000 likes and 30-40 comments). Seems like he gets way more likes per picture but less comments - could that mean he's just using better hashtags that are netting him more likes, but has less overall engagement? Or am I overthinking that lol

    Which should I go with?

    Thanks everyone.

Hey everyone, haven't updated in a while so here's one.

So here's what I'm looking at so far. (I've stopped keeping track of comments and likes because it was just too tedious. Hope yall are okay with that) Like I've said this is still a side project so the growth isn't insanely fast. It is however mostly organic which is what I'm going for.

    Comedy:
    Followers: 1842 (from 1081). Following: 2606 (from 1821). Ratio: .71. Pictures: 146

    GQ:
    Followers: 2060 (from 1203). Following: 1480 (from 1646). Ratio: 1.39. Pictures: 105

    EQ:
    Followers: 959 (from 168). Following: 491 (from 165). Ratio: 1.95. Pictures: 50

    Dog:
    Followers: 989 (from 341). Following: 339 (from 287). Ratio: 2.92. Pictures: 40

    Notes:
So about three days ago I started buying followers/likes from a user here on BHW, sending myself 100-250 each day to all four of the accounts. Hardly any of the followers have seemed to drop so that's good. I figure I'll do this until I get each account to above 3k at least. I've been considering paying for a shoutout or two but I'm not sure yet - pretty tight on money right now so black hack services are sounding a little better lol.

I also am setting up an eCommerce website to go with my pages. For now, I'm going to focus on tying it to my comedy page, but in the future I'll probably attempt to connect it with the others as well.

    The plan for the website:
My plan is to combine Printful with WooCommerce and sell apparel/merchandise relating to the niche. I realize DTG fulfillment services like Printful aren't as good as buying locally - I just don't have the funds. The fact that I don't have to spend anything on inventory is very appealing.

So far I've only begun to set up my theme (BeTheme as of the moment) and create some graphics for headers and what not. I have yet to integrate Printful or WooCommerce, though I plan to do that within the next day or two.

Today (after five days including fulfillment) I received my sample shirt from Printful - a Medium American Apparel black tee with their color pallet on it. After reading all the negative reviews I was surprised, the quality and fit weren't that bad. Obviously not as good as something you'd pick up from a name brand clothing line, but it was definitely good for the price ($13 to me, and I figure I can retail them at $20-25 to make some side money). If they can keep up to that standard I feel fine moving forward with them. Gonna wash it a few times and see how well the shirt holds up.

    Question:
Does anyone else use a DTG printing fulfillment service? Which one? The reviews for most of them were very scattered so I'd love to hear your experiences.

Till next time, take care guys.
