    Hey everyone,

After my successful Journey on Teespring and Facebook using Custom audience, Check here, I decided to start a Journey using only Broad Interests.

A few words about Broad interests.

Just Like google has hidden keywords, Facebook has hidden interests which most of them have not used from anyone. Facebook give us everything we need in their general interest targeting, it's just that most people don't know how to properly use it. These interests are usually only found after a lot of research and by manually typing in a lot of searches into Google or Facebook scroll of search. If you have been doing research on your targeting you will know how time consuming it can be, but it's always worth it, and if you haven't been doing research on targeting before setting up your ads, you will discover a whole new opportunity to sell stuff through your Facebook ads.

Estimate 95% of Facebook marketers are not using broad interest targeting.

You and I may "LIKE" something associated with a topic or even be on a fan page, but only the TRULY engaged people will be a part of the broad interests that I?m going to use on my Journey.

    Why most people Target Wrong?

For occupations there are those who like the occupation (I like my Dentist, I like nurses) and those who actually work in that field. For pets (dogs example) there are people who liked dogs and people who LOVE dogs, making them a central focus in their life. In passion hobby niches (golf for example), there are fans and there are FANS. Those who watch and those who PLAY. In sports there are fans and there are DIE HARD FANS. So you understand the difference, is Huge.

    How you should be Targeting.

Dig deep into your audience, beyond the general topic, what are these people involved in? Just Like google has hidden keywords, Facebook has hidden interests. You can search on Facebook, Google, wikipedia in order to find interests that are useful and targeted for your offer/product/service. New people are constantly getting involved in different topics , so you can hit these audiences over and over! (Shirts, Shopify, CPA, List Building, Offline & More). There are tools which contains all the research steps into a few clicks, so it solves the problem of taking a lot of time for marketers to find the correct interest to target in their Facebook ads, and it'll help a lot of you who are maybe not too sure about how to find these deep interest to target.

These are some of my results using Broad Target Interests:

T-shirt about Football Team using post engagement. The price of the t-shirt was 19.90$.

Hoodie about pets using Facebook conversions. The price of the hoodie was 39.90$. Net profit $2,179.35.

This is an example using only Facebook broad targeting for an affiliate offer with my landing page on unbounce.

    My Plan

I will start with a niche that i have never been tested before which is Archery. My budget will be 300$ and my target is to have a gross revenue approx 1500 - 2000 $. So first I searched about interests to find the potential that could bring me. It?s better to match an interest to a product/service than force my offer to match an interest. Then, I will start searching for quotes and ideas about the T-shirt. The best way to find ideas is Pinterest. I will search top Quotes on pinterest or google to take some ideas about T-shirt and target on this.

Some of the quotes that I will have choose:

    "Keep Calm and Shoot Straight"
    "Keep Calm and love Archery"
    "Bow Addict"
"Keep Calm and let it Fly"
    "Shoot for the Stars"
"The sky is never the limit in Archery"
"Take it one shot at a time"

Then I will design the T-shirt adding the quote and a random photo if needed. Photo is always an advantage. I will choose a photo randomly searching on google or I will hire a designer if I want something more specific.

    Day 1 - Design T-shirt.

I selected the archery niche and I will start to design 2-3 different t shirts using teespring so I can test them and find the best converting t-shirt. I will set a time for the teespring campaign for 21 days and with a goal off 100 selling t-shirts. The price of each t-shirt will be $19.99.

Day 2 - Set up FB campaign by finding broad interests.

For my niche there are 20-million-person audience. All those people are not really engaged with the sport of archery or archery as a hobby. So I can?t target like that and that?s how a lot of people would target because if I want to target people who like Archery, I putting ?archery? again, it makes sense in my head but it doesn?t make sense within Facebook?s interest targeting and how they show your ads. It could work, but my click through rate is probably going to be pretty low because most people that like archery are not the die hard fan. Most people that like archery are just a casual fan and what you really want to do is you really want to hit on that five to ten percent, maybe a little bit more, that are really engaged and really the diehard fans of archery. This is extremely broad so I have to narrow my search and dig deeper to find more specific targeted interests which are related to my offer. I need to be able to separate the engaged from the non-engaged just using the broad interest. So I have to deep dig and find keywords beyond the general topic. I have to figure out what these people are involved in. What motivates them? What drives them?

Manual Process of finding Facebook Interests

Google has ?hidden keywords?. If I use the Google Keyword Planner, they show you keywords that people search and an estimate of how many times these keywords are searched monthly but google doesn?t show all the keywords. When you go to Google?s search box, you start typing some letters and a keyword appears. It appears because people have searched that keyword phrase before, so Google is showing you what somebody has searched before. Just like Google has hidden keywords, Facebook has what I would call ?hidden interests?. if I just type in the broad keyword, I?m not going to notice. I have to search specifically for these interests to find them.

You will discover a whole new world by searching hidden interests on Facebook.

Following this process you will realize that when you start putting some of these in the interest, you will start typing something in and all of a sudden something will pop up you didn?t think about. You know, it has like 50,000 people or Facebook will give you a suggestion based on what you?ve already put and it will be something you wouldn?t have thought about. Whenever you?re trying to figure out how to target the right people, you?re going to go to Google and you?re going to type in whatever the topic is. For my niche archery, I'm going to type in "archery" or ?archery association? or ?archery foundation,? ?archery federation,? ?archery society,? ?archery clubs,? whatever it may be, websites for dentists, magazines for archeries. It may show up in Facebook?s broad interest.

If you want to target specific people in a certain state, you can do festivals or restaurants relevant to that state or city. It?s endless. Hidden Facebook interests,? because Facebook doesn?t openly give these to you. You have to search for them and you have to put in the interest and then Facebook will finish the search for you. There are many times where I spend sometimes 30 minutes to an hour putting the other list of interests and it pays. You won?t always find a match. But take time to gather a list of super targeted interests. If you can?t find anything don?t try and force it off into the interests, but find interests that are really bid and that you already know that there?s and engagement with and then go and find your products and services to match that interest.

    What to Look for

Association, foundation, federation, societies, club, forum, website, blog, magazine, newsletter, book, author, event, festival, conference, Amazon best sellers, competitions, state, city specific topics, subscriptions and more stuff you find along the way! You won't always find a match but that?s okay. Take time and gather a list of super targeted interests. The competition in the field of Facebook is chaotic and at times it can turn into a factor that you simply cannot deal with. The scope of the interests you mean to approach is usually too wide, leading you to fruitless and time consuming attempts. Constant testing on finding out the tailor-made to your needs interests and audience gradually drains your financial budget before you even reach your goal.

Check what I found for my ad

This is how it works by doing it manually.

Automate Way ONLY for BHW members.

There are tools which can help you find interests by categorization easily by searching keywords. The software has all the basic filters for your searching: association, foundation, federation, society, club, forum, website, blog, magazine, newsletter, book, author, event, festival, conference. The tool contains all the research steps into a few clicks, so it solves the problem of taking a lot of time for marketers to find the correct interest to target in their Facebook ads, and it'll help a lot of you who are maybe not too sure about how to find these deep interest to target.

Complete form and then reply in this thread and state ?I?m in? or something like that and you will be able to create your free account. I will activate your account and so will be able to use the tool. Visit this link to signup.

    Extra Hint:

For example if I target labrador breed I can still layer these interests for even more laser-targeted results, but it?s not necessary. I can still target the Labrador rescue group people but I can layer that with people who buy dog food in the behaviors and then you have people who buy dog food that are associated with Labrador rescue groups. So your click through rate on that is going to be very, very high, probably double digits. Because it?s so specific. But you don?t need to do this, but it just ? it can make it even better. So keep that in mind.

Get on board to start an interested and profitably Journey with me :)

Wow, interesting! Never thought about that niche in the TeeSpring market. Good luck! Subbed

    btw a few questions:
1 how big investment is required?
2 can't you upscale this big time and do many shirts to earn over $2.5k monthly?

You don't need a big investment to start. The broad targeting will help you to minimize the costs and increase the sales. There are many "hidden" interests on Facebook with passionate audience that have never been touched by advertisers. It means that you can sell t-shirts to these audience "easier" and earn more than 2,5K a month. Be creative and design great t-shirts and you will see how profitable it can be.

Guys thank you so much for the support. I will start the ads on Monday. I will try to send updates very often. If anyone want to start and have questions, let me know.

    Stay tuned!

You could start with at least 50$ and make some tests.

You're certainly having more success at this than me.

I've got a T-Shirt and I'm targeting a specific game, for arguments sake, lets says its Team Fortress.
Now I've used your tool, and searched around, but I don't seem to be able to get the CTR needed to even make 1 sale.

I've targeted Team Fortress, and look around, but how exactly do you be more specific when targeting something like this?
Would it be something like targeting a TF2 Medic T-Shirt to TF2 players, in America, who work in the medical industry?

Is this just a case that my design itself is too general?

Team fortress may have a group or a forum or a community or anything like that, which lead you direct on the active engaged people for this game.

Also look on the references of wikipedia for hidden interests.. You could always find a lot of profitable interests.. I will add wikipedia section on the tool this week.

I can't say that broad target will work for any niche that you target. Searching deep and making experiments on the interest you wish, is the more proven way to bring you success. Remember, it's better to match an interest to a product/service than ''force'' your offer to match with an interest.

Furthemore you can target games communities or websites like gamespot. It would be broad but if you narrow it by 'behaviors' could give you positive results. I have never worked with the gaming niche but i think that it should be massive.

Let me know how it will work for you and give material for further studying here, if you want.

Guys, I will start the journey tomorrow.. I was offline 2 days now..

    Keep watching.
