This did not quite answer my question. i have never done anything like this before, yes the 2 mexicans have an ssn they were born here in the united states. i just don't know the consequences for pulling such a large amount like 9,000 off 2 dependents.

You could harm yourself more than the "add-ons." If those documented Mexicans share their ss with just one other person, the IRS will be knocking on your door. Also, If you get audited for any reason, you will have to prove that you provided at least half of the support for the 2 dependents you are trying to claim during the filed tax year. They may request you to change your W-2 for the following year so your employer won't take out as much withholding, then if you don't claim them again, yo may end up owing more income tax than you should.

A lot of people get away with stuff like this I think that's why the IRS started a cash reward program for ratting on people you know that are cheating on taxes

The most important question is how qualified is your GF's sister?

Unless she is a qualified accountant or lawyer and specializes in Tax then you shouldn't bother risking it.

If you are caught then you will be punished because this would be Fraud.

Look for Tax Avoidance schemes but remember that Tax Evasion is illegal.

I dont particularly understand the "documented Mexican" method. Are you going to say you employed these two people ? can you show legitimate payments to these people if required ?

Im sure your girlfriends sister is looking out for you but if you are earning so much money that you are looking to hide it then you can afford a discussion with an accountant. There are legitimate ways to reinvest money back into your company etc without getting involved in something shady.

I get the whole wanting to find loopholes but there are a million smarter tax moves that could yeild similar results. Without having fraudulent activity. Why not open a successful business and incorporate so you can write things off?

I guess that requires work tho..

Sounds risky. Don't know how close you and your gf are but what happens if things turn bad? The sis could drop a dime on you even if you get away with it short term. I guess the question you need to ask is how bad do you want the $9000 and what are you willing to risk to get it? I agree with jimmylegs above, there are loads of things you can do to trim your taxes legally

She has been doing it for people for years she previously worked for H and R block and learned a few tricks there. the trick involves adding dependents and something called " Earned income tax credit" i am not too familiar with it and don't know if i should do it.
