    Consider this situation:

    Keyword 1
    Buy Blue Widget
    1300 Monthly Searches
25 Keyword Competitiveness Score (Organic Search) from LongTailPro

    Keyword 2
    Buy a Blue Widget
    1900 Monthly Searches
28 Keyword Competitiveness Score (Organic Search) from LongTailPro

    Essentially the same keyword.

KW1 has fewer searches but lower competition
KW2 has more searches but higher competition

What option would you use in terms of creating custom articles/landing pages for the keywords? Which would you focus on? Or would you make separate articles and target both? (see some possibilities in the poll)

There is no significant difference in terms of competition and monthly searches. You can rank better for both keywords with optimizing on the same article.

"a is the" will not give the big difference in terms of considering long tail keyword
