    Trying methods
For example if my keywords were

    Packers Sweaters
    Packers Hoodies
    Packers Sweatshirts

Should I have 3 separate pages with 1,000 word articles for each? Then the main page would touch on each for 500 words but also go on about the types of designs and packers art?

Right now I am targeting all three of these on the home page with a 3,000 word article (and 9 affiliate links). Is this better?

Can't tell if the first method is keyword cannibalization
They are very similar keywords, not like long tail where i would make a blog post for each. So its confusing.

Have you checked your SEO Score of your Homepage for those keywords? Is your page optimized properly?

I prefer to optimize each page for one keyword with a 750 - 900 words article, 2 - 3 imges and 1 video when possible. That way, I have my keyword on url, h1, 2 - 3 times inside the article (1 times bold, 1 italic and 1 anchor text link) and SEO Score at least 89% - 92%.

With proper Off Page Optimization and Indexing I get really fast results.

If you go for 3 keywords in a page, then you will have to "sacrifice" 2 keywords from url and h1 tag.

But I think that you got the idea.

    Home Page:
Group similar keywords on a page if the user searching for the variations are likely to be searching for the same thing -

Like hooded jumper, jumper with hood etc.

But if the keywords related to different things then create separate page for each group.

    Imho.
