So I posted on white hat section but I do think this may be the more fitting area anyway for this issue.

For the past 6-7 months I've had a blog dedicated to a few tv shows. Traffic pretty much shot up to around 1k-2k UV's a day near days the show is aired, feedburner is showing 35-40 readers a day, and my FB page is around 250 'likes' but doesn't really climb.

Have I hit a plateau, or is there more promotion to be done, more places to link, etc?

I was a complete blog noob when I first launched, so looking back I doubt I linked to 10% of the places I could have.

    Link Trades -
I searched out a bunch of very related blogs, but was only able to trade with about 4-5. Not shocking considering how new my blog was. Personally I'd rather have more one-way trades anyway.

    Blog Commenting -
I strictly looked for related blogs that didn't have 'nofollow' set, then manually commented on them. I know this was my strongest juice, but perhaps I was too picky? I picked up scrapebox, and thinking of just scraping more related blogs and manually commenting on the high PR ones, follow or nofollow. I may do a small auto comment on lower PR related blogs too.

    RSS Submissions -
I submitted to feedburner and maybe 2-3 other rss directories. I know this can be improved quite a bit. I was under the impression feedburner would make miracles happen with my feed, but so far that site doesn't really do much.. unless my settings are wrong.

    Article Submissions -
I've yet to submit to any. I didn't really think of my blog posts are 'articles', but I assume I can probably take many of my posts and convert them to articles to submit to. Is there a good list of the best article directories anywhere?

    Blog Directories -
This was one area I did a lot of work in. I've gone through many lists of blog directories and submitted there.. probably based on my old history in 'adult' where link lists and tgp's were primary sources of traffic

    Web 2.0 -
I've done next to nothing with this, and still don't really quite understand this aspect. Can anyone clear this part up?

    Bookmarking -
I've submitted to a few places like technorati, digg, etc but with no results. Likely due to what I mentioned above, I can't seem to get any bit of authority with technorati, and my posts never get any 'diggs'. I assume there are a lot more bookmark type of sites to submit to?

    =================

    Making Money ---

I've tried quite a few different options, but as I mentioned above, running a tv show blog doesn't scream $$, unless completely marketed right.

Adsense - Mixed results with this. Horrible CTR, usually like 1-2 clicks a day, lucky to be pulling in $1/day with the clicks.

CPA - Horrible results so far, but I assume I likely picked bad products to promote. Any suggestions?

Donations - Complete fail. 0 donations, but based on what I've read, that's to be expected now.

Any tips on either promotion or making money would be fantastic :) I'll keep updating this thread if there is any interest.

I also have tried pop culture blogs. Lots of quick traffic. The problem its not product related and people are not interest in anything but the shows, etc. Build a blog based on a product and monetizing it will be the least of your problems.

Yea, honestly this is more of an ego thing :p I got a taste of numbers and want more and more

I do have a few money projects in the works, but if this pays for the server and a little bit extra I'll be happy

like 'bluhat' said, the things you are doing seems to be enough. Just keep on doing what you have always done and you will get what you have always got. Sooner or later, your earnings will increase. Good luck on it dude.

I have a gossip blog that I run with a similar story to yours, and I just wrote a similar post. I received the standard advice, with some good nuggets.

The one new thing I'm trying that was reccommended is a plugin - "tweet&follow". I have yet to see any results, but it's only been a day.

I also saw dramatic results with search tagging 2 plug in. Some people say it has caused issues with Google, but my site is pure white hat, with all unique content, updated almost every day.

CPA has really sucked, and Google Adsense has been a little better now that i'm using a different format.

The other thing I do is go to flippa and look at gossip sites for sale and see how they are monetized. They usually describe it well in the sales page - that's where i learned you could earn decent money from infolinks.

That's all the advice I have - I will let you know how the new plug in works.

    Thanks for the replies guys

Very good advice about flippa, I'm going to take a look at that. Sadly I think for sites like ours, adsense and things like infolinks may be the only way (although I hate all the links infolinks adds, so I stopped using it), until we get enough traffic where people simply want to buy ad spots.

    ----

Does anyone happen to have a good list of rss sites to submit my feed to, article directories, and bookmarking sites that are a must?

Also, can someone clue me in on web2.0? Is that basically making a linkwheel for the blog and promoting each cog on the wheel while pointing to my main site?

    Thanks!

Was just having the same issues with a high traffic "recipe" type blog - how the hell do I monetize it? (well other than a crappy integrated amazon shop and a couple of clickbank products)

I'd never even heard of infolinks so thanks!

Get their email, and sent the visitors recipe related clickbank offers.. That's at least what I'm doing, as Adsense on recipe websites sucks.

    Yourface,

Using web2.0 properties are the free type platforms like hubpages, blogger etc. Basically anywhere with free blog hosting.

That's what I used to get traffic in the first place. I basically took the content from other blogs, spin it (software I actually paid for), and then edit it so it's readable and create posts on these blogs.

I usually put about one or two posts a week. They are on topic and named very similar to my main blog with my main blogs links in them. All of my web 2.0 properties are actually decent blogs in their own right. I have since formatted them better and added cpa offers as well. lol.

Then I buy backlinks to those, and by SE NUKE blasts. Because my lead site is considered precious I only manually back link to high PR sites with that, all other links are done to my web 2.0 properties.

Excellent, thanks. That's what I was figuring, but wasn't 100% sure though.

So you actually got traffic with the 2.0 sites and not just prominent back links out of them? You also update each site with a few posts, or just have one post per blog and have a bunch of 2.0 sites going on?

I think what I may do is have a bunch of 2.0 sites going on (at least 10+) and get the 2 week trial of senukex, although I wonder if buying blasts may be easier/cheaper depending on how many 2.0 sites I end up creating.
