So we all know now there was a definite google algorithm update on the 6th of March, many people have reported ranking drops, there's been speculation it's tied to SAPE links, however many that have been hit claim to not have any SAPE links.

In the interest of serving us all, I've created a short 10 question survey for those hit by the recent update to fill out. I'm hoping we can get at least 100 people who have been affected to accurately fill out the survey, then I'll continually update results here.

To help us all identify certain characteristics of this update, I ask that only people who have experienced noticeable drops in their keyword rankings around the 6th of March to fill out this survey, please be as honest and accurate as possible.

    The survey will take less than 1 minute to complete, please click the link below to start the survey;

    Thank you,

    Answered.

A few of my old sites got hit, they had pretty pathetic backlink profiles and were just some testing sites that I hadn't built anything to in months.
Nothing to do with SAPE links, just had too few articles and a bad backlink profile.

Not too worried about these, just proves that you have to make quality tier 1/2 and have lots of unique content :p

Although something else did happen as well on March 6 that I can't really understand..One of my sites DIDN'T drop in ranks whatsoever, but it's search engine traffic dropped by 75%..
Checked with several PCs, server, serpbook and a few other rank tracking tools and the keywords are still #1, just not getting way less traffic.. Site is still indexed

Thank you, that is quite strange regarding your traffic, I would double check manually that you're still rankings the same as before.

what do you mean by "using ahrefs.com what is your highest keyword % anchor text"? do you mean the % of ref. domains with anchor or backlinks with anchor?

Yes, Very soon, 95 people have filled out the survey, waiting until I get over 100 then i'll share the results.

    Thanks.

% of total backlinks that point to your most optimized keyword, i.e....if you have one keyword that has 20% of your total links pointing to it and no other keyword has more.

    Thanks.

Why even do this? Matt Cutts already said they targeted a link network that day. They obviously devalued and put more value on some links also. If you are not using a link network, you should be fine. Your keywords may drop or jump up depending on your competition but at least it will not disappear off the grid.

You should wait after Monday. Another update that day.

Lol if you post about "Google update" whenever you wish you will see a big load of people who will agree on it and say "Omg yes, all my sites dropped today".

lol, what if this guy works for google and they're trying innovative ways to have blackhatters give them feedback on their updates.

Is the data going to be shared with the public, or do we just get some sort of consolidated report when you're done collecting data?

I'm with dragonrage01,tomorrow's planned update is going be a pretty important one,the 6th of march was aimed at networks, obviously they will not wipe the complete network in one swipe so some using them got hit others didn't.
It wouldn't suprise if tomorrows update has a hint of penguin as well just to put everyone right off track. It's gonna be busy here in the next couple few days.I also expect some big names to get hit by the upcoming update, wether google will manually adjust but most know all these massive companies spend $$$$$$$ on blackhat techniques.

Post the results here instead of some spammy doorway/sales page?

Actually almost 90% of people who filled out the survey so far weren't using SAPE links, and 66% not even using any high pr links, so it's definitely not that. I would have waited had I known at the time of creating the survey there was a panda update coming this weekend. I'm pretty sure the march 6th update was a experiment for this weekend's upcoming update.

Yes rankings move up and down everyday, however reading across a lot of SEO forums/blogs, quite a few people noticed significant serp movements on march 6th, myself monitoring 100s of keywords did so as well.

Ah no, I don't work for google. Yes I will share the final results tomorrow.

Yes I have, results coming soon.

Actually march 6 is looking more like a panda refresh/experiment for this weekend's confirmed panda update. Link networks weren't the culprit.

Ah, what sales page? I'm not selling anything, no OTO, aff link, etc......it's a public free survey, no personal details req to fill out the survey. I'm doing this for all of us. I'll release results soon.

Yes, quite a few people are already reporting recoveries.
