Take action!

People say there is no secret to making money. While it may not be a secret, it seems this fact is not taken to heart as much as it should. I know there's a few similar threads on the forum like this, so allow me to just re-iterate, and put in a little bit of personal info.

I come from a family who likes to dream big. And I respect that. I just have one problem: they never do anything about it. They are all bark, no bite. Big talk, no action. You get what I'm saying.

I forget who, but I know there's a BHW user who's Sig is something along the lines of "if you believe you can, or if you believe you can't, you're right". I'm sure I heard an audible voice (Morgan Freeman of course) the first time I read that. I read a thread today explaining, in short that you need to stay motivated! Believe in yourself. Set yourself up for success and you will find it.

Once you're motivated, you need to have goals, and you need to figure out how you are going to make them happen. I see so many threads on BHW "how can I make money", and my heart just sinks. I die a little inside. My problem is not that people suck at using the search box, it is that they don't have goals. They don't have a plan of action. They just want the end result.

You need to make a plan. My father told me once that I should make goals, figure out how I'll reach those goals and then write it all down and stick it up somewhere like the bathroom mirror, so I can remind myself what I'm working towards. Have a daily routine or some kind of milestone system. "Today I'll follow 50 people on twitter".

Lastly, and most importantly, you need to do something about it. You can't win the lottery without filling in that little slip. Even easy money requires some form of effort. Stop wishing your rich uncle would die already and leave you that inheritance. You need to get up and do something.

If tl;dr, here's my list of things to do if you wish to succeed:

1. Get motivated
2. Set goals
3. Make a plan of action
4. Take action!

This (although true) is a common misconception. "Taking action" is only half of it. Before you can take action, you have to first have a "Plan" that you will be "Taking action on". Without a plan, the dream is just a fantasy.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough, I thought the "set goals" part would cover making a plan.

Not really. I can set a goal right now that I want to make a million dollars next year, but that does not mean I know how I will actually make a million dollars.

Take action is a nice motto, it almost seems like this is the main thing you should learn from BHW, but in my opinion taking action is only the first step to success (if you don't take action you're doing nothing so it doesn't count). Over the years I have taken a lot of action and still failed many times, taken down several not profitable websites and burned through a lot of money. If you want success you have to take action over and over again even if you fail couple times during that process. It always amuses me in those journeys people are so happy about making $1/day, thats basically nothing (I dont know how much you can earn working at McD but it has to be more than $1/day). Not saying $1/day is not a good start, it is, but you have to aim higher than that.

The truth is, the secret about making money is "there is no secret".

With the below anyone can get started and make thousands online:

1. Research
2. Study
3. Application
4. Test, fail, get up, try again.
5. Never give up.

john1444 shows a very informative steps here, but for all the new guys, DON'T get stuck on Research !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


This cannot be made more clear!! 99% of the time the reason why people are not taking action is because they keep researching and researching and
you will never find that OVER NIGHT SUCCESS thread or post. Everything needs to be done. Give your self a Research Deadline. Say 2 weeks write down the date.

And go through some research find something you like. Then Study it. and when the 2 weeks is done. FORGET ABOUT RESEARCH INTO ANY OTHER THREADS.

Just start with what you have chosen and start applying what you have learned and do more research on ONLY THE ONE SUBJECT don't get lost again into other ventures.
Choose one and stick with it for at-least 6 months to 1 year. If your successful keep going and keep scaling and keep learning into the 1 subject.

If you fail start again with only 1 thing at a time.

I talk out of experience. When I started I wanted to do 10 things at a time, failing all 10 as you just cannot focus primarily on one thing.

Thx for the thread OP. This is really bringing up something that people need to Know, and Does Know but never does. I myself and loads of others are guilty of this when starting out
say 3 - 4 years ago. for years you just did not take action but you did Research ahahah this will fail everytime. TAKE THAT ACTION.

Joking aside, exceptionally accurate post.

Yes, take action, but always view it as a process and not an event. Also, brace yourself with patience and know it will probably take 5x longer than you think and cost 5x more than you think - just a basic truth of life.

This is very true. Going into something without having done any research on the matter ahead of time is the most retarded thing someone can do. Especially if it involves an investment. No damn point in taking that kind of action.
