seeing more people on social media writing tags, i.e. relevant words/phrases in the caption instead of using actual hashtags, does this return the same results and engagement? are hashtags dying out and no longer as effective? or do people just do this way because it makes the caption more attractive?

People are doing both for different reasons. Writing keywords naturally can make the caption look much cleaner, while hashtags can still help categorize content and potentially get it discovered through searches. Rather than choosing one

I’d use both, but focus more on natural keywords in captions. Hashtags can still help with discovery, but they’re not a guarantee of reach.

No hashtags are not dying out. I prefer them over tags because they increase the searchability of one's posts. Tags only make your captions "look" better.

I always thought you just add some hashtags and post. Now I’m hearing about keywords too, and it’s getting a bit confusing, lol. Should I use both as a beginner?

Currently, search engines allow you to search for any keyword, regardless of whether it includes a hashtag or not. Therefore, keywords are no longer as important as they used to be.
