Tagged.com is inspiring, but

A friend of mine recently invited me to Tagged.com and signing up for it is pretty interesting. It's inspiring, but I am hung up on the execution of this. They have you fill out tons of CPA offers, zip submits, surveys, etc, in order to complete the sign up process. There is a little "skip" button hidden at the bottom of every page, but I like the idea of monetizing a "free" dating site by doing this but requiring them to complete at least one offer (or slapping them with a bill). It would be even better if I could make this a monthly requirement - complete an offer or pay $--. Anyone seen a script like this anywhere else? I know I can "hire a freelancer" but I'd like to at least have some idea of how its done, technically, before I post an ad looking for somebody to do that.

With over 80 million members, this dude is FUCKING STACKED! OMGOMG OMG. Thanks for the sure, this was worth it. I just signed up and completed a offer just to check it out how he processes it, looks like I just made the dude $10. Lolzers.

Let's do the math.

80 Million Members * 33% completion offer ratio * let's say average of $4 ( you could include 1/2 completion rate for cell offers in this amount but I'm mainly speaking CPAs) = $105,600,000+. Could be much more but that's probably the bare minimum.

105 Mill, not bad. Plus it's ridiculously viral cause you import friends, then they import friends. At any one time there was only 1300 people on, but who the fuck cares, the money is in the registration not staying power. He should work on staying power though, made money like facebook.

If he got rid of those cell phone offered and replaced it with standard information ones (address, phone, email especially) he would be in the serious green. With that much traffic though maybe he has tested it and it works, so who's to know for sure.

i have been using on tagged as well, those members are rather stupid. when sending them offers or adverts, they even wanted to be my friend. and all they are writing is like,

"going to check out xx"
but no leads.

keep fingers away, it's waste of time, at least in my eyes.

maybe ewhoring would work since there are 80% nasty people.

On the whole, there were only 1300 members online, so barely any people use the service once theve signed up. No real BH money to be made.

BlackHat Code breaker is sort of the same idea, but not quite. In BHCB you gradually reveal content, while I really just want to chain zip submit offers together. I'm sure that there is a simple way of chaining together zip/email submit offers -- a person fills one out and simply moves on to the next offer page. I just haven't looked into the technical details too deeply yet, because I figure theres got to be a prepackaged script for it somewhere on this forum. I just don;t know what to search for. When you go to sign up for tagged you have no idea each of those zip/email submit offers is going to come up - I have to go back and count them but I think it was like 10 offers - but each time you click past one you think it is the last one, so you keep going to the end of the sign up process. Seeing how aggressive they are, I'm wondering how often the members get messages from tagged about free offers, too. That'd be another way of monetizing a "free" dating site. :biggthump Hmmm...

As for whether or not the ringtone offers are being completed..., Tagged looks like its essentially a social network built around photos and it would really appeal to people who don't use myspace, facebook, friendster or bebo for that. I use Facebook for photos and messaging more than anything else, (but different people use it for different things) so tagged doesn't appeal to me at all and won't appeal to most of my other (facebook and/ or myspace using...) friends --- but it will appeal to most of that guys friends because they don't use fb and I think that the conversion rate on the ringtones might be higher than you're assuming. Why? Because this guy and most of his friends are all from the same "urban demographic" that loves Boost mobile and buys ringtones on a regular basis. The ringtones might be selling very well. Tagged has a lot of potential to grow virally, I like the monetization method, and looking deeper into it has given me more ideas that could apply to a dating site. I think that bulk-sending messages to your members inboxes is probably legal, and the members might accept it without complaining if the service is free or a condition of membership. I'm starting to think I can send them a free newsletter/singles advice article on a regular basis and monetize it with affiliate links. Yeah, tagged is definitely inspiring me to think a little more out of the box.

Tagged was started by two spammers, so its hard to do anything on there without them catching on, as your link will get black listed after about 5k comments. I dont know how you got off 50k comments. The bot i have will stop sending comments after a couple of thousand goes out.

I never actually signed up with Tagged, so iI didnt know about the offers at sign up. I have my own social network about a month and a half old and have 5300 people so far. I was looking for ways to monetize it. How would I implement a offer at the sin up? Or any other ways to monetize a social network outside of adsense?

put up something like gold membership where they get 100'ds of special features which others doesn't have. put up a shop with t-shirts and co.

What script are you using, or is it custom? Affiliate ads, banner ads, paid ads based on traffic/membership... try something other than google. Go sign up at plentyoffish.com and use it for awhile. Sign up as both a male and female, and sign up with different locations + interests. Markus knows his shiite. If you google markus frind and go back a few years you can even find forum posts where he is asking about how to get people to join his service.

I've been a member of tagged for quite a while! have a few thousand friends without using bots or anything. Actually i've had it before i even knew about IM. I've gotten laid from it to say the least!

Do the driver-download method, or app gifting method.

Basically, charge them a zip submit for each time they say "hi" or poke for a picture etc.

That way, instead of hitting them with offers at sign up, you have an opportunity to deliver it over and over and without turning them off before they get into the site.

I like that idea. Or they can get tokens for each offer, and use the tokens for the actions you described.
