So I setup in Google Tag Manager, installed the code on my website, entered the info for G Analytics and Adwords Remaketing tags, tied my G analytics account to my G adwords account, setup a remarketing list in G analytics and I get an error than says:

Warning: You have created at least one remarketing list, but have not made the necessary changes to your tracking code. Without these changes, your remarketing lists will remain empty and your ad campaigns may not run.

[edit]I think I have a work around by entering the remarketing tags as a custom tag, and not using the standard interface[/edit] <- nope didn't work, code doesn't match for change

The problem is Google Tag Manager just has two entry fields for id and conversion label for an Adwords Remarketing tag - so I have no way to access the code as the tag manager is doing all the work.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Do you have a preferred tag manager other than Google?

Can't edit the original post but here is the answer:

There is a checkbox when you select G Analytics as the tag. The checkbox says: Add display advertiser support. You must check this checkbox to collect a G Analytics remarketing list. Oh and don't confuse this with an Adwords Remarketing List, they are two different beasts.

And realize that reporting, even adding your first three people to either remarketing list, is delayed up to 2 days so you don't know if the tags you've installed are working or not and even then G is only reporting rounded numbers, like 4,400.

Hi!

I have the same problem, and I've already checked the "Add display advertiser support", but even after doing this I'm still getting the warning message and I have no idea if the remarketing lists are working or not. Btw, only checking that option wasn't enough for the GA code to automatically change (what I had to do in GA was to enable the "Display Advertiser Support" option located in GA -> Admin Tracking Info). But as I've already mentioned, even after doing this, even after the GA code was changed, I'm still getting the warning message.
The funny thing is that people from Google told me that "you have to manually insert the modified code for Remarketing Analytics before the closing <head> tag, otherwise the Remarketing lists won't work"... and I thought that was the whole idea with Google Tag Manager: to get rid of the additional code, and to be able to make changes only in GTM, without altering the code of the website.
Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Problem solved! (it was just the message that appeared, but now it's gone, everything works fine!)
