Hey guys,

Would like to organize my content inside tabs and accordions but wondering if that would hurt my SEO?

I can't find any concise info out there, so would love to see what your guys think

Thank you

No won't hurt it.

Bots tend to crawl the code so it should be fine. Depending on how you do the tabs and accordions it could to a trigger that you are improving the user experience so might have an effect on site performance in the serps..

I'm assuming that it would be a positive effect right? :)

The thing that worries me is that when I load up my page and press Ctl+F and try to find the content within the tabs, it can't find them.
I have seen other tabs out there, where the content is still "detectable" with the search function but not visible until you click on that tab.

What's the difference here and is this a negative?

Ctl+F will search only visible content on page.

Better go to source of page and check if content is there.

If it is there, it will be indexed.

Thanks, yeah it definitely is in the source page.
However, I've been reading that hidden content, although it can be indexed, google doesn't give it the same SEO weight?

Not really, just a couple of reddit posts and this blog post

It sounds like google fully indexes and weighs content within tabs when it's on mobile-first site but not really on desktop sites?
Perhapse I should 2 versions of the same page, one for mobile-first and one for desktop? :(

Have you tested content within tabs and accordions?
