Right I am giving you this idea as I have no time to do it myself at the moment. I have many widgets that I have built and cashing in from and have some similar to this idea related to other worldwide ongoing illnesses and diseases and it does work.
1) Create a swine flu widget that has the following functions:
Infected counter: This can range from a simple overall counter to narrowed down figures etc.
2) News Feed: Up to date news on the situation.
3) Custom Goggle Search: Customise it to search the main sources for swine flu news.
Types of widget: The main one would be desktop, social networks, yahoo, microsoft
Making Money: Mainly from the google custom search widget. You can also link it back to your own site for more money making methods. You could also make a toolbar version of the widget using conduit.
This method is much more likely to make you money than a simple blog as many people are doing it. This is unique and people will use it.
