I have, I mean a friend of mine has a music related blog with some copyrighted material available for download and I have noticed some traffic with wierd host names. The I R S is my main concern. Someone there likes to frequent the site. Should I be worried? There are a few other hosts and locations that don't seem quite right either. I may just be paranoid, Does anyone else monitor thier traffic and are there other hosts that I should be on the lookout for?

Do the Domain WHOIS show the real owner information? Is the copyright material on your server?

If the answer is YES, then WORRY!!

If you are going to offer illegal material of any kind then project yourself.

1. Dont use real WHOIS data
2. Host the illegal files on free hosting or another site.
3. Host your site in a country that has less or no copyright laws.
4. Whenever you log into your site us proxy.
5. When paying for hosting use unverified PayPal or a VCC

Basically, if you are paranoid then dont do it, or just make sure you hide who you are very well.

uh... uh... uh... warez/music/etc This is something I would not do. Not even if the server itself is totally anonymous, which is a simple task to manage. There is always a track to your bank account.

You might have the luck, that somebody is just using a referrer spam tool like prstorm, check if the frequency of the requests is halfway even and if the domains are all the same ip.

good luck with your activities
