So i had a youtube short that hit 12million views...
it was a video i found off tiktok that was super funny and noone posted it on youtube shorts so i said why not!

i posted it went from 200k views to 1million to 12million in about a MONTH

my subscriber count went from 22k to 45k subs in one month

i didn't make any money from the short because i usually turn monetization off on shorts but after it went viral i turned it on.
still didn't make any money because no ads run on shorts.

i woke up today! .... Channel demonetized FOR REUSED CONTENT

key points
1. My channel is NOT a shorts only channel.
2. All my long form videos i use clips but i add commentary to intro and outro. (maybe not enough commentary)

my long form videos don't do that great
maybe average 3k views to 20k views per video during a good week.

youtube is emailing exactly what happened...

since i heard youtube is pushing to make sure shorts are successful and compete with tiktok

i doubt they'll blame the short and say its my long form content.

hints my name "YoutubeHatesMe"

Official statement from youtube

"Reused content refers to channels that repurpose someone else's content without adding significant original commentary or educational value. This may apply to any content on your channel, including Shorts . This policy is taken from the AdSense search console portion of AdSense program policies. We’ve put it in a context that’s more relevant for YouTube creators."

so there you have it... if u find a funny dog video or anything u can't just throw it up as a Short

Maybe the viral video trigged the algorithm to scan you channel. Or maybe youtubehateyou :D

Since you are using others content, its steal, sooner or later you will face problem.

Happens all the time
Some channels do get lucky and won't get hammered

Did you post the video just as it was on tiktok and not even credit the original owner of the video ?

I gave credit to the original content creator in The Title! title was "tipsy bartender mixologist makes jungle juice"
if your wondering what it was it was Tipsy Bartender Guy that poured drinks in a kitchen sink.

I included my face at the end of the video but i didn't speak.

The video went viral 12 million views then youtube stepped in and demonetized my channel for Reused Content.

which sucks because....

on tiktok 60% of the content is REPOSTS!!! some have commentary but alot of them don't.

good example... it's Tiktok channels that only post "Scenes from Tv Series and Movies" NO COMMENTARY.

i thought Youtube Shorts would be okay with the same stuff because Youtube Shorts don't run ADS on shorts...
its no advertisers

Long form content... i totally understand....

you can load up tiktok right now and 50% of the feed is gonna be reposted content from instagram... funny videos from facebook...
movies scenes... tv shows... and NONE OF THE ORIGINAL CONTENT CREATORS credited.

a friend of mine that does youtube..said he got demonetized over a youtube short as well.

Youtube doesn't realize... what makes tiktok fun is the fact its NOT STRICT!
good example women on tiktok twerking half naked... advertising ONLYFANS.. tiktok does nothing
another good example tiktok reposting content from TV shows ... tiktok does nothing
if you don't believe me... try to report those channels on tiktok .. tiktok will send a message saying "hey we found this is within our community guidelines" lol.

Try any of that on youtube shorts... here comes the SCAN BOTS scanning entire channel for demonetization.

its a reason all these social media platforms are trying to copy Tiktok and win the younger generation over but its not working.
young generation don't want to be HEAVILY RESTRICTED

only thing tiktok is strict about is Violence..like if you post a "street fight" Tiktok will take it down even if its no blood!
i saw a video of a guy dressed in a Bunny costume... punching another guy... and tiktok took it down for violence!

something like this happened to me too. I published a stock that got a lot of visualizations but then my cannal died, any public face is not seen by anyone.
The problem that I have not received no notice

how do i know if my case?

delete the video and appeal again. Will monetize again. And I think better avoid in future to do this again on this channel. If anything make shorts from your own content

reused content is better than invalid traffic. If you filed an appeal and removed that video, I think you have 80% chance of getting your monetization reinstated but if you do, your channel would be shadow banned for a month.

a friend of mine got demonetized for reused continent, video was also from tiktok but a compilation and a longform video, she appealed and deleted the video and got her monetization back after around 15 days fo wait.

but if you got demonetized due to invalid traffic, you get absolutely no chance of getting monetized again.

Will it work? I never thought you can get monetized by deleting the content.

yes, also youtube say when request monetize to delete content that not meet policy and try again. If you unlist or private they can see that is why you need delete and make new original videos. but if again you start uploading copyright content at one point yt will not approve you again. so is better after 1 time to follow rules
