[Suggestion] Notifications by "@username".

If its a money issue where they need more money to get this feature on the website then maybe they could set up a donation button and those of us who want this feature could donate and get it going.

I doubt with BHW it's a money issue, I'm figuring it's more of a time issue. It would awhile to get out all the bugs and 'perfect' it. Though, again, another option.

also if they are afraid of spam they could make it where a user could turn the notifications on or off and if you wanted to @username you would have to have a minimum of 100 posts.

Another good idea. See this can be tweaked to have a good impact on the forum. I would say 50 posts for the @notification. 100 seems a little deep. Especially if they're looking for something.

True and another thing is they could have a daily limit on the amount of @usernames one could use so we dont have a huge spamithon with it.

Suggestion: Those who want it active (use it from their end only and can call any member, may be only twice max per day), then they can pay $97/year towards it with an automatic undertaking given against its over-abuse. If it is abused then the member can't have it again for 5 years at least. Fair enough:)?

+1 to your idea.

i think i presented it wrong.

to those who say that it will not be good.

there is a small forum called thebotnet (it is about 1% of bhw ) (i used it about 2 months ago) (it is full of noobs but still the feature is not used to spam by noobs )

and the @ feature helped me very much.

{i am not affiliate to that forum}

I see what you're getting and no. Though ultimately I do not have control over it's features or even if it becomes something. Hence, the suggestion thread..

It has the potential to be very helpful and all anyone is talking about is how it is going to be abused. When was that a popular question for anything before the rep system was taken down? Everything can be abused. It just depends on the ratio between abuse and something being useful.

this thread is a bit old but , today i found a great thing.

even owner of forum use this system.

No Never Gonna Happen.

Thank you for your well thought out and highly informative contribution to my thread.

Like I stated originally, it has the potential to be very useful.

A fruitful idea IMO. Perhaps even a notification for a quoted post? If the member is too popular, then he can disable the system just for himself. Its a valuable idea but I am not sure how the admins are gonna implement it. Maybe a poll?

I've wanted this feature for a while, it sounds a great idea.
@DiamondDamien Here is the plugin to allow you to do it :)

I agree with if a member has too many posts or some form of age to their account, they have the ability to enable/disable the notification system.

I've seen so many members use it just by form of habit.
