You should ask him for the source but if it needs updating just ask him to update it and pay him a little something to do so. If the partnership should go sour for any reason just can pick up source and find a better suited programmer. :israel:

Ask the coder to put in a security feature that will lock it down by login/password and have it check a database table for matching login/pass. Once someone buys the product, add their custom login/pass in the database.

I would say to have your programmer encrypt the source files with IonCube so they can't be stolen.
