I understand the title is strong, but based on THIS thread and my own experience, it seems many members are getting "extra" emails from certain BST sellers. As @BassTrackerBoats mentioned, it's not explicitly stated in the BHW terms of service that this is against the rules...

Suggestion: Make selling customer information grounds for a ban and explicitly against the rules in the BHW terms of service.

Let me know if you agree / disagree / have an alternative solution to this problem.

    BHW - of course.

We don't allow services that are clearly list building for this very reason.

However, you need to read the sellers terms of service. If you explicitly opt into further marketing from that seller or allow them to share your data then you could have a problem.

We all receive spam it's part of being online. I don't think it's a BHW problem and - right now - we don't track who is passing on what information to sellers.

The real question is how GDPR is going to impact this tactic in 2018?

I doubt 95% on here are even aware of GDPR.

I've been getting spammed recently from sellers here on BHW that are clearly buying lists from sellers or decided to start spamming themselves. Worst part is they set their email name to "BHW" to get people to click through having them think it's a message from BlackHatWorld.

I understand where you're coming from and certainly think people should be cognizant of the fine print that signs them up for further promotions.

It couldn't hurt to put a sentence in the terms of service about it being against the rules to sell info or send spam emails - just so it's there. While it definitely isn't just a BHW problem, since it's happening on BHW it would seem most prudent to address it in the terms of service.
