    Hi all!

I don't know if this bothers anyone else, but in the Request Download and Member Download forums, people are still using asterisks and either enclosing their download links in quote or php tags. It is also common usage to precede a download link with the anonymizer link which would not be necessary if the link were enclosed by code tags.

Clearly, the people that are doing this either have not read or have not kept up with any changes in the threads, sticky posted at the top of the forum. However, since most of the mistakes are being made by newer members, I expect that they have simply not read the instructions.

Therefore, I am requesting that such postings be reported through the report button, and that the administrator or moderator that responds simply notify the offending person that they are required to read and follow the rules regarding posting and then they are banned for 2 days to make it stick. No warnings, no second chances. And if they do it again, again they are banned for 2 days.

Even if this is done to a new person, they will most likely not leave, because 2 days isn't that long. But they will likely read and follow the instructions about posting, so that 1. we will be able to use the search to find downloads and 2. downloads will easier to obtain.

    Cheers! :)

does not really bother me too much . I still wrap my links in
    Code:
    this
manner. As my links do not get the anomyzer link on them anyway . Kinda wierd I post a link than have to go back through and wrap it because it did not anomyze .

    valwardon-

I know you do, and it is appreciated!

But if you look around, there are a lot of people either direct linking, sometimes with anonymizer, sometimes just printing the link with xx's and **'s all over the place, and what I love the most, enclosing the link in php tags. WTF is that???

It seems to me that when people f*ck up on a regular basis (and there are lots of people doing that right now) you simply say: "Read the f*cking rules and FAQs and come back in a couple of days when you've had a chance to absorb it!

    Cheers! :)

I did not realise there was a problem with using the anonymizer link. I think one or two people who give plentiful good download links use it so they might get upset if they are banned for a couple of days.

At the same time if you want people to stop it would probably be the quickest way. I would suggest adding that this will happen and that it will also happen if people use the anonymizer link to the 'stop using asterisks thread'.

    Probably is mainly new people.
    Code:
I have only just found out how the code works
Took me about 5 mins going back and forth looking at things.

Yes I think it would be alright to do this provided you gave a warning and made sure people were aware that anonymizer was also not allowed.

    Code:
    I support it!
An automated checker wouldn't force people to read the rules. A two-day ban probably would.

By the way what is wrong with anonymizer. I like it because I feel the link is safer. Is it just if it is not in code that there is a problem

I dont see a problem with any of the links, it seems like a lot more work for the mods just because of the wrong links, considering the fact that you are getting something for free most of the time there should not be too much of a problem with it to be honest.

I agree with gimme. If somebody posts something and you don't like how they did it, simply don't download it. That is your choice. How would you like to be banned for two days for trying to provide members with what you think is a worthwhile download and be banned for your effort? I am sure you wouldn't like it.

helloall, I think you may be bending forum rule number 5 in your sig about PM For Details lol :p

Anyway, back to topic. Once again, I think that if you are getting what you want then why moan about it? Would you rather change a link or cashout for it? Way too much effort for mods just because of a few picky leechers :p

229tom: If you don't like the forum, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

You like the forum 229tom? You must not if you are insulting one of its members.
