I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo thingy, its 3/4 years and held together with sticky tape - I like it like that but the blue sparks and hotter than the sun heat is starting to freak me a little bit

I have put off buying a laptop for ages but I don't have a clue what I'm looking for!

Right what I need is something that can do this:

1: Odd SEO stuff but not much as I use VPS, mainly SB or SERP checkers!
2: A bit of photoshop but not much of that either
3: Loads of office stuff, I'm a pdf whore
4: The rest is browsing but I do remote into at least 2 other machines at the same time
5: I would like something that I really can have on my lap rather than sat at a table
6: Last a couple of years, maybe be able to upgrade bits?

Budget maybe £500 unless its wrapped in gold and makes me tea in the morning then ill stretch to £600

I bought this puppy about a month ago and I love it. It has a 17.3 inch screen that is amazing. It has a full keyboard with number pad which is important to me for typing and bh stuff. It has 4 gig ram and an i5 2.66 ghz processor so it screams. It also has a nice 1gb video card incase you want to play some modern games. It does heat up a tiny but, but it's not really that bad. It was the best priced laptop I could find with an i5 and I'm very happy with it so far.

Stick with quad core laptops, so i5 or i7. Also, do not buy HP. A kid could design the internal design better than them. I'd prefer Dell, Toshiba or Lenovo. I don't like Acer and Asus because of the low quality product built in. Oh and Sony is way over rated, don't pay too much.

If you need all these + Good battery run time

Lenovo would be the best for you.

Run Time (Up To) : 9 hours.

Wow amazing battery life on the Lenovo.

    I've got a dell inspiron 1545 and it's a bit slowwwww.

45 minutes tops with my battery life, no numpad,on board gfx and only a i3 cpu.

So don't buy that one haha.

    As per your budget,

You can have 2 options as per me:

    1. Dell Vostro, I 5 or I7 processor (I7 is slightly costlier), 4 GB Ram, It has a battery life of 2+hours, 15.6 inch screen, can have dual boot windows 7 as well as windows xp

If you wanna spend a few pounds extra

You can go for Dell Inspiron I5/I7 processor, same configuration, It can only have Windows 7, no dual boot with Win xp

I have been using Dell, and Dell have the best laptops as per me :)
