Sudden Ranked Drop? Google Algo Update?

My personal strange theory:
3. The number of visitors and rankings nowdays are very similar to the first week i launched my website. It feels like google did a complete trust reset for my website (this would be look very similar). I think they tried to merge some data in backround and it fails...

This is very interesting opinion, and from my own sites which were affected with this, I somehow have same thinking. Because websites are not banned completely, like deindexed, but just pushed to pages 7-8 and so.

Like Google wants to recheck their trust / authority again. What also confirms this is, if I search my sites which were affected with their brand name, it shows them at 1st spot. This also tells me they are not banned. But just something strange is going on, and it's still running. I can still see sites dancing from pages to pages.
We will see how this will end. I'm so curious.

The basic question is:
Everyone who is affected from this "bug" ... did he get now same visitors like in the first week of april?

Hey, yes when I look at some of my sites that have lost their position, it's quite similar to their beginning, it also looks like a soft reset for me.

We should expect another update this coming week. Results are so messed up. Trying to search something and nothing useful comes up. All I see is Google Books or old/irrelevant information.

Oh yes, Google books are everywhere even in the adult section, in almost every niche, no way the results can stay like this. I am seeing constant reshuffles and sites of mine that I have done nothing with for years coming out and ranking for tags in the wrong sections. The dancing about is making me dizzy!

It just feels like they are pulling every site out and ranking them with each different refresh its different sites.

My site came back the other day but has again started to join in the highland fling!!

well...you should have a lot of nerve to make a living as a SEO.
like a stock trader.
otherwise - welcome anxiety disorder.

This is very very true, sometimes you load up google and look but don't look your scared at what you may find so it's like a half-hearted look and then when you see your site still ranking and doing ok its a huge sigh of relief until the next check- the life of an SEO LOL

yeah, I have noticed google books coming up often.
I don't use google often... mainly to see if my links are indexed and I see a lot of google books in serps.

Even I felt the same, they are reindexing every page they got and ranking them again it see. Hell lot of dancing.

Show me a link seller in the Inc 5000. I would really like some hard facts and not opinion
I'm not here to change your mind, so I won't engage in this useless discussion.

But https://www.inc.com/profile/the-hoththat you may be familiar with.

Same here! Its like they pushed the “reset button”. It will definitely not stay like this. I am just wondering what they are up to, why they did it and how long it will take. Looks like something big is coming.

One of my web2s from 2013 is now ranking on the first page for a medium comp keyword I have never updated it and it has only 1 page on it - This is really bizarre, I never even realized it was my web 2 as it has been so long since I looked at it, I only knew it was mine when I clicked and saw it linking out to some of my sites this is a Webnode.com page.

Is google really scraping the bottle of the barrel here? However here today will be gone tomorrow no doubt, feels like google is digging deep.

Do you think Bert is struggling a bit with what should be ranked where? Between authority and relevance as it just seems so messy. I see authority sites and then I see information type sites and everything else is flung in between them including 1-page articles, google books, twitters, facebook etc, ( what a mess)

One of the sites who has been number 1 in one of my niches for around 4 years Is no longer no1 but inner pages are in the results in position 4 and 5 - It is a hugely well-known site huge authority,

I hope the dust settles with this soon so we can know where we are at, but i feel its a mess right now

But here's just one example that you may be familiar with.

My point stands.

The Hoth are not a link seller. They are a full services digital agency.

QGLgeqs

There are 10's of thousands of agencies. Of course there are large ones.

Also.. The Hoth only did $18.7 million in revenue in 2018. Google 4x that just to feed its employees tasty fruit and goodies so they can produce awesome things.

They are a blip. For Google to invest any sort of effort into eradicating companies of that size is ludicrous.

Forgetting the fact that they do paid advertising management, let's imagine that instead of spending on SEO the money went into google ads.

So let's be generous and say $15mil is from link building, and the customers would ALL magically decide to buy ads with that budget. That would be a 0.013% increase in sales for the year. And people won't suddenly switch from SEO to ads. The money would go into a lot of different places. They might make an extra $1-$2mil per year in ads sales, which is an increase of 0.0016% in sales.

Would their time not be better spent on alternative methods that yield a better return? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't spend much time on something that would yield me a maximum of 0.0016% increase in yearly sales.

Small update. My biggest keyword has returned to the #1 position. Fingers crossed it remains.

It's strange, the non-plural version went from 1 down to 6 on December 17th. The plural went from 1 down to 30~. As of tonight, the non-plural went to #2 and the plural is now at #1. I've done absolutely nothing on the website. Most of my other keywords are still gone.

I have 130 seo projects. All dancing for las 3-5 months. Reindexing process. BERT testing in the process. They just test it and will improve it if results will be no positive. That's my opinion.
